Top 3 clonguish may lose few to senior but kiloe look like they could be big threat for junior

I didn't say Slashers would be in the mix for relegation!

Senior: Colmcille (They have the upset of losing final last year mixed with loads of experience and players to return from the league, Mackens, Cathal McCabe and possibly more. Gerry Carberry a very good manager too) Intermediate: Cashel (Having the 2 farrells for the whole league seems to be helping them, new transfer of Paddy Dowd adds experience and was playing some great stuff in the leavue but Connollys with all their county players also will be close too) Junior: Legan/Killoe (A Legan v Killoe final and it will come down to how many players Killeo lose to the senior team. If they keep there squad together I would say Killeo are stronger but Legan are always a big threat. It would be good to see a first team winning the junior championship. Hopefully 3 good championships for everyone on here too enjoy and discus!!!! Clonbonnyrabbitt (Longford) - Posts: 76 - 13/07/2025 14:45:42 2625264 Link 0 |
Senior : One of Clonguish, Colmcille, mull, Abbey, Killoe will all be on par in my opinon with Clonguish getting over the line. Garmin (Longford) - Posts: 99 - 16/07/2025 10:35:55 2626012 Link 0 |
Until the senior championship is brought down to ten teams this will continue to be the case

Or even 8!!!

This is the ideal! There are only a maximum of 8 clubs at senior level in longford (maybe not even 8) 2 groups of 4. Winners into s/final. 2nd and 3rd into Q/finals. 4th play off for relegation. botheyesclosed (Longford) - Posts: 130 - 18/07/2025 12:24:06 2626376 Link 0 |
Would make every championship game more exciting and must win to an extent while also having less games or dead rubbers (Longford CB might not be a fan of this). This also makes the Intermediate and Junior championships far more competitive and therefore more enticing to win (specifically the junior championship)!! 8 Senior 8 Intermediate and the rest Junior!

Good idea but first the issue is too many clubs never mind structure it's getting right amount of clubs we nearly more senior teams than kerry I know they have 2 championship district but if you take their club championship first we have more senior than them that can be right Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 953 - 18/07/2025 16:52:37 2626461 Link 0 |
Big statement win by Clonguish tonight. Forwards must be flying. Making up for slow start last year which they never recovered from. B&G (Longford) - Posts: 389 - 18/07/2025 22:11:01 2626484 Link 0 |
Two pointers very key for them last night, Slashers will be disappointed with how they played. Drumlish unfortunately look a long way off it, we'll see if Mostrim go that same way against Dromard

True, if they didn't kick those 14 two pointers, it would have been a draw!!!

Rules are the same for both teams. The two point rules wasn't just for Clonguish last night!! I think they kicked 4 two pointers. So by old rules instead of 28 points ,it would have been 24!! Thats serious shooting. But they do need to clean up their goal attempts when they come up against the serious contenders for the championship. They must have missed 3 or 4 glorious goal chances.

Great win for Rathcline this evening. Mullinalaghta had their chances to get something out of the game but didn't take them. The 2 relegation spots looked to be well nailed on after only 1 round. Oddball (Roscommon) - Posts: 971 - 19/07/2025 21:51:46 2626572 Link 0 |
Rathcline were quite well set up, missed goal chances killed Mullineachta but the big names stood up for Rathcline, two points they might not have expected to get so absolutely massive for them. Mullineachta down Aidan McGelligot and then James Mcgivney seemed to pick up a knock in the first half. Expecting a big reaction from them next weekend. No team will want to lose their first two games so plenty of even contests coming this weekend. Clonbonnyrabbitt (Longford) - Posts: 76 - 20/07/2025 19:11:02 2626708 Link 0 |
