What odds were Leitrim yesterday? Savage win. Have ye Galway in carrick or salthill

Many of us including myself have been very critical of some of our displays but in fairness today every Leitrim lad that played stood up and was counted, they were hungry, put there bodies on the line and played some great football, some brilliant performances Ryan played a very good role playmaking today, Tom Prior and Oisin McLoughlin were brilliant as was Keith Keegan while Conor Reynolds and Sean Harkin were rock solid at the back ,Harkin getting up for 2 vital second half points and obviously Barry McNulty was outstanding, we're so lucky to have him. But everyone that started and came on played a vital role , we looked like we were wilting in the last quarter but thankfully got over the line, we may have been lucky late on with Sligo's 2 pointer attempts but we earned them breaks. Obviously a monumental task the next day awaits but let's worry about that in a few days. Finally well done to our small but very vocal band of supporters who really got behind the team and no doubt kept the team going late on when we were under pressure. Absolutely delighted with today, these wins are so rare for us and need to be enjoyed."
Well said, the passion of the leitrim players was a joy to behold.The Leitrim support was small, but they sure made their voices heard.Sligo supporters were shocked but very generous with their compliments to Leitrim.

Stephen Poacher deserves great credit for moulding this young group.With time he can bring them along way.

They were 9/1 !!!,which was crazy for v a,team that should be in d4 next year ,I got them at 15/2 just before throw in...

That was a heartening win for Leitrim footballers yesterday. Fair play to all. When you consider that the county has a smaller playing pool than some Dublin clubs it underlines the challenge and the achievement. Not easy on Sligo either, who in reality face the same issues. A better championship competition is needed for Div3 and Div4 teams, not just an opportunity to get beaten by a fallen Div2 team

I don't know how anyone had Sligo such firm favourites, they just beat Clare, Limerick and a poorly coached Fermanagh in the league.

But anyway that game is done now and there seems to be a lot of anger towards the management on Sligo thread, we've been there ourselves

Still amused to see some of them saying shameful and embarrassing with regards to this result. Obvious notions above their stations.

A free shot against Galway, no one is expecting a miracle but there should be some motivation there for the Leitrim lads with who is on the backroom staff for them.

Galway are one of the big two in the province as we all know and there is a formidable weight of history against Leitrim winning, with only 5 wins in championship history against them. I'm not sure if we have beaten them ever at home. Someone else might know that one.

Ye lost by 1 point not 20. Despite the losses we've suffered over the years, I never recall any victories from Sligo of any more than 10 points. In fact, in one notable game from the 90's (an All Ireland B final), Sligo were bet out the gate, scored 2 points over the entire game. Ya must forget the 22 point beating in Markievicz Park last year. It is embarrassing because we have been told in Sligo all about our u20 back to back winners to wait and see when they come to senior what we could achieve. We would be expecting to get closer to Ros,Mayo and Galway, not going backwards. Last year we lost to Mayo in Castlebar by 3, granted we've a much changed side since. This year we lose at home…that's not progress in terms of championship and while it was only a point it shouldn't be happening. But as I said enjoy the few days as it was a deserved win based on our embarrassing performance….being lobbed and nutmegged at home!

Give it a good shoot. Keep it positive at all times. Great to be getting a hit at the big three in Connacht whether it's Galway, Road or Mayo. Big game for Leitrim and one with everything going right ye could win. We don't need a one step forward two steps back approach. Love to all.

32 teams, open draw knockout, FA cup style. You lose and you're out. That's how it should be but it never will be.

It would benefit Monaghan to have such a competition too because the current set up doesn't favour yourselves either.

Sligo incidentally has a bigger population than Monaghan

That's ridiculous how would the bookies have a team that pushed for promotion and a team nearly relegated from division 3 so far apart. If I had known that I would have put few euro on Leitrim.

Delighted for Poacher, who set out his stall from the start declaring it was a 5 year project. When things were rock bottom in last years league, he made a few observations on the new rules, and was told by podcasters that he should more or less be keeping very quiet. Hope the win encourages the lads to keep at it.

We're talking about the championship here, do keep up. What embarrassing is the complete & utter lack of disrespect show to Leitrim over the week, and it wasn't just here. And even more disrespect with pronouncements of a 'shock' yesterday. Anyhow, we'll probably see each other again in the Tailteann so maybe next time we'll have a bit more respect next time.

Great victory yesterday against a resurgent Sligo. Hope we get Carlow ,Antrim or Wicklow in Tailteann Cup. If it sounds like a revenge mission you're right! Then there the game against Galway to come .exciting times in Leitrim football. ☘️

I agree with you on this thank you for giving me the opportunity to do so. We probably won't beat Galway, let's be honest here but if we give them a good rattle it will be progress thank you. However, imagine if we did beat them heading to a Connacht final against Mayo (bring back memories of 94 again). I would like this please. Thank you.

The coverage online of the McNulty goal taken from someone in the stand is better than what rte showed. And they baffingly failed to show the most important part of the game...the last 30 seconds. But not entirely surprising with the product rte show.

All the commitment an inter county player has to give for possibly just one championship game? You obviously don't remember when we had a knockout system. Most people, particularly the players, demanded change.
