spot on with the age profile of refs. Have any new referees come onboard this year, seems to be the same faces doing games all the time! I have seen one team twice this year and it was the same ref on both occasions even though the games were only one week apart. The 3v3 rule seems to be completely ignored for sure but I do think its a tough call for a ref with no linesman, I might be wrong but from what i have seen, the refs were doing games on their own with no officials. this was Div 1 so I assume its the same right the way down anklesockhater (Leitrim) - Posts: 4 - 15/07/2025 14:41:54 2625855 Link 0 |
You of course being the legitimate oracle of Leitrim footballing matters in this sector. Did you oh great Leitrim football master not find his first post a little bit silly responding to what was a personal opinion on the chances of Annaduff this year? boxtyburgerbuns (Leitrim) - Posts: 452 - 15/07/2025 14:48:12 2625857 Link 0 |

No new refs that I am aware of. Not at adult level anyway. Can see this being a big issue in about 10 years time if there are no new recruits. The question is how to make it any way appealing to take up, refs expenses barely cover the abuse they have to deal with. Would rather just watch a game myself of a Saturday evening than subject myself to it, umpire/ linesman is not as bad

Clearly you have some beef with Annaduff as a club. As I've said... someone like you can't be taken seriously.

Zero beef or pork with the annaduff organisation. The question was posed who'd win intermediate and I said I didn't think they'd do well this year Someone like me? You don't know me lady boxtyburgerbuns (Leitrim) - Posts: 452 - 15/07/2025 21:11:10 2625948 Link 0 |
Probably from Bornacoola. Going by league form Aughavas should win junior A, Aughnasheelin should have a strong say in it depending who they have available. Not sure if Drumreilly or Cloone have the resources. One first team will be fighting relegation, likely Glenfarne gaelsboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 659 - 16/07/2025 02:05:08 2625969 Link 0 |
Glenfarne are too big of a club to be relegated.

The Aughnasheelin franchise are a formidable bunch when their backs are up against the mountain

just wondering whats peoples view on the U20 championship and the timing of it. some teams are holding back players to essentially keep them safe for senior league games and add in holidays are we really seeing a proper u20 championship. i know the argument against later in the year is the pitches but it seems a watered down championship at the moment. of course pitches are better this time of year and thats the argument for it bring on now. meathbasedfan (Leitrim) - Posts: 179 - 16/07/2025 12:02:22 2626031 Link 0 |
now is the best time imo, a pity if teams are holding back players or not entering at all due to proximity to the club championships. I always said it is great competition, it just does not tend to get the respect it deserves

yeah its great to see fella's 18/19/20 playing against their peers. some of these lads can fall between 2 stools in maybe not able to make their senior team at the moment and too old for underage. so its definitely positive and can give lads confidence and keep them paying.
