Wasn't Mulligan the guard and a few other recently retired players more than eager to don the jersey again to fulfill the fixture? I thought that was common knowledge!

Beating Tipp should get us third, but there's no guarantee that we'd qualify because the team with the worst record out of the four third-place teams is eliminated with New York joining in in the preliminary quarter-finals. And we already have an atrocious scoring difference, so we might already need to finish on three points (unless some other team, the right team, takes a tanking).

I'll say nothing about that because it isn't worth talking about

Say what you want about it but 6 'retired' men would have been better than no men & no game.

Replying To leitrim4sam:  "This a 5 year project if not more like 10 years. Stephen is doing a fine job it's not him or his management team that is the problem. Jim McGuinness, Jim Gavin or Mick O'Dwyer in their pomp wouldn't be getting anymore out of this team.

This is Leitrim's problem - blame the manager. The actual problem is that the quality of player available to the manager is horrendous, and amongst the lowest in the country. Our club scene is a disgrace with clubs going through the motions. Our clubs, every year, in Connacht fall at the first hurdle. Our senior champ is at a level and standard of junior champs in other counties. The player being developed in Leitrim is so far behind other Connacht counties that when they meet in inter county or inter county club games our players are shown to be way off.

Our players are slower, not as physically developed, less intelligent on the ball and less skillfull than other counties players.

Now you can blame Poacher all you want but anyone else in his role could not do better.. Yes, OK there are better players that could be playing for Leitrim but again these players are older, extremely limited and just paper over more cracks. I believe Poacher came in examined the situation and said - right I'm up **** creek here but there is a decent U20'ish team here so let's focus on them, develop them and hope in a few years we can compete.

Leitrim need an overhaul at club level badly. At underage too. When our clubs can compete and challenge for Connacht titles that's when I think we will see real progress and we are miles away from that right now."
Agree with 99% of this. The game against Fermanagh should never have been conceded. Therefore, the jury is still out on the performance of Poacher.
Regardless, the county board are likely to stick with him for the foreseeable. Promotion next year and remaining in Division 3 the following year is the only way we'll attract a credible candidate.

He wouldn't play when he was able to........walked away a few times so why would he be taken back?

We won't get a credible candidate, nor do we need one? People suggested in the past if Louth got Mickey Harte, Offaly did also why didn't we approach someone like that??

Mickey Harte would not have went near either of those counties if he didn't see potential there!! And he was right, Louth have proven that and he has already got promotion with Offaly while winning another competition (division three league beating Kildare in the final.)

So say if we were to approach him, what potential would he see?? A minor team that lost all games apart from the battle between the bottom two?? An Under twenty team that's leaking goals like a sieve and same story- hammered in practically every game and won the playoff between bottom two teams against Galway's second string and made hard work of that too.

So until we get that sorted we can forget about a "credible candidate" because if they did take it up their credibility wouldn't be with them for long so no manager worth talking about will risk his reputation with us. That is the reality I am afraid.

It was joke. How can one player be worth 10.

I know you were but he came out saying he offered to play and my point is he wouldn't play when he could. He walked away twice.

Strange how none of the other five lads whoever they are didn't come out and say it. It had to be him who gave the interview of course.
