Insult, are you that fragile? Only fact is where that word is use and by who.

You are a wum and try another thread to play that nonsense.

"first game their fans expected them to win of the campaign"

Maybe I'm wrong but fairly sure Roscommon fans expected to win against Monaghan.

The idea of a great chance of reaching the final comes from where exactly? Had they beaten Dublin then the same effort and determination wouldn't be put in to beat Donegal, that win came mainly from the reaction of the defeat to Dublin. The final table didn't lie you need to focus on that than whataboutery.

I live in Roscommon. I have Roscommon children. Pretty much everyone i know here was excited about the Dublin game and expected to win. They didnt. They flopped badly. They were in a great position and they failed to deliver at home. Those are facts. Now who's fragile....

Well done to our underage teams. Good progress but Ros teams and players are regularly shining in Schools, College's and Varsity competitions. Ultimately all about development and pathways. Let the young players enjoy and express themselves. And I praise all players on Connacht. The better the standards the better the competition for all.

On the money. Each Division one game especially the latter stages takes on a life of it's own. Certain matches the need is greater for one team over the other and if good enough they'll win. That's what happened with Dublin beating Roscommon and then Roscommon beating Donegal.

Seeing that Tadgh likes facts here are three.

1) A win against Dublin would not have put us into a final as we would still require a result in MacHale Park and we haven't got a positive league result in that venue since the mid 80s.

2) before the league started we were 1/10 to get relegated so that meant the bookies and their pundits were expecting us to finish bottom with no win.

3. We finished 4th with 4 wins and 8 points far exceeding pre-league predictions and expectations

I never said that a win against Dublin would have put Roscommon in a league final. I said that Roscommon had put themselves in a position to go after a league final if they had beaten Dublin. It was a significant opportunity against a team that are struggling and in decline. They didnt turn up on the day and duly took a hammering at home in front of their fans who did go to the Hyde expecting to win. If they had won the Mayo game would have been very different in terms of approach. They may not have won but they would have gone in with something to play for. Thats always a good thing.
I know what favourite to be relegated means. It was still a missed opportunity.
Yes it was a good league campaign. It could have been so much better though.

I dont think they were fully confident of beating Monaghan. They gave themselves every chance yes and probably targeted that game but it waa early in the league and both teams were favourites to go down.
You give yourself a great chance of getting to a final when you win games. Of course you have to win the games that come after but they were on a winning streak at home against a struggling team who were relegated and they flopped badly. It isnt the end of the world but it did happen unfortunately.

Monaghan was off the back of a heavy home loss to Armagh while Roscommon off the back of competitive performance against Kerry in Killarney that deserved at least draw, I'd say confidence was fine for that game.

Dublin made underdogs for the Hyde park encounter was one big motivator factor in that contest and the rossies put a lot of energy into their previous games leaving them flat and very wasteful in front of the posts.

Dublin got relegated but one shouldn't ignore they were competitive in every game. They are still a team full with club and county All-Ireland winners. Leinster all the talk is about Meath currently and then Louth who are the defending champion yet the Dubs are well capable of winning back that Leinster title and their performance in the Hyde that day is a early sign to what they can do when click on the day.

I dont know. There isnt much between us but home venue should help. I expect Cork to come at us from the start at a blistering pace. If we withstand that and dont fall too far behind I think we will get on top. If they blitz us early and get the scores it will be very difficult. Who ever wins will have to score 33+ points to do so. The quality of scoring in both squads is exceptional.

Floodlights back in use in MacHale Park so I believe, so that's probably why. Makes perfect sense as allows people more time to travel to the game from work.

Four point defeat for Roscommon U20s. We were 4 or 5 points the better team 1st half and to be only level can back to bite. Mayo 1-5 to no score patch 2nd half proved a difference. Heneghan,Carthy among our stand out players, Casey with a nice cameo off the bench.

We could well play Mayo again in a knock out tie so can take the positives from our competitive showing tonight and work on things we did wrong like the two poor goals conceded

Barring a loss to Leitrim we should make the semi v loser of Mayo/Galway.
Is it neutral venues now for knock out?
It used to be reverse of group fixture.

Very impressed with the first half performance last night. Midfield totally on top and should have been several points up at half time having played against the wind. Missed a couple of chances; including a goal chance at the very start of the game. The reverse was the case in the second half. See no reason why we would not turn-over Mayo if the teams were to meet again.
Definitely some senior potential in a few of those players that have played in the last few weeks just like Mayo have done/implemented already.

Do the two teams that qualify for the Connacht final both progress in the All Ireland competition like previous years? I think the standard of football in Connacht at under 20 level has been good so far.

Losing Provincial Finalists don't progress at under 20.
They do at Minor.
There's a B competition for the poorer under 20 teams .
GAA logic can be hard to follow betimes.

A lot of these players would be doing leaving certificate orals/exams and third level assignments/exams over the next few weeks/months so it probably makes sense to run off this competition as soon as possible. Some players would also have lost a lot of study time playing sigerson also.
I would say it is hard for Kobe McDonald (& other students) to get enought sleep and properly concentrate on differential calculus in a maths class ( for example) at the moment.
Important to keep everything in perspective as they are all under serious pressure at the moment. Fair play to them all for giving everything to representing their various counties.

Or not make more sense to return to old format of U-21 (and probably minor to u-18 also) and a return to the summer. A return to U-21 would mean less Leaving Cert students involved and could start mid to late May after College exams finish and play it out right up until the end July and allow the competition to breathe. I remembered Tomas O'Se saying before it's the most microwaved and rushed competition in the GAA and he's totally right. It's far too rushed under the current schedule. For example, last Sligo played all their 5 games across 5 weeks and if they had made the final (which they nearly did) it would had been 6 games in 6 weeks. Sorry but that's wrong and in reality if they had made the final, Mayo would have probably wiped the floor with them with no proper recovery and tired bodies. Look at how Munster does their Championships at U-20 and Senior in Hurling with the same number of teams and format. Every time gets a proper break at some stage.

Also a return to the summer months would avoid issues with daylight and floodlights and what can only be described as ridiculous throw-in times we're seen over the past few years. Sorry but how does Connacht Council expect the general public to attend matches at 5pm on a weekday. How that Galway game wasn't fixed for Paddys Day or in a venue with floodlights made absolutely zero sense.
