I didn't see Roscommon Gaels result as being a surprise at all. Brigids have far greater strength across every line and with nugent on song they were a joy to watch. That saying I still hope Boyle or faighleaths win because they don't import players such as the Gaels and Brigids to get to the next level, certainly did the Gaels no favours.

Doms were doomed the minute Jack Lohan got injured who's a fantastic leader for them, however western Gaels were by far the greater team throughout and must have missed 7 points and a great goal chance by Cathal cregg in the opening 20 mins. Seanie Mac was so clever with his carrying of the ball and ability to get past a man and gain a scorable free. Kevin Higgins was the game changer though. He ate Dominic's alive winning ball and their youth really showed as they basically bounced off him.

Strokestown into the last 4 of the intermediate championship, a Mis-match as they won by 15.

Probably would have expected to play Tulsk in semi final but not so as a mini shock with Fuerty winning by 3 points in a low scoring contest.

Replying To The_analyser:  "I think it's more a Roscommon Gaels issue and not been able to be competitive against Brigids. Before Dowd they had Frankie Dolan as manager and were knocked out of the championship by Brigids by a margin of 15 points.

Glaveys in the previous game beat Brigids with a solid defensive effort and used their pace on the counter, Iain Daly their manager will be part of Dowds Roscommon management next year."
I think people over estimate the effect the coach has on teams. Ultimately it's down to the players to play and 95% of the time the team with the best players will win. I'm not sure mark dowd is to blame for Roscommon Gaels being poor nor do I think you can credit any coach or manager with Brigids improved showing . Ultimately it's players

I don't see the outrage in importing of Conor Carroll compared with some other transfers. He plays for the county team so makes sense for him to play in the county. He's given up a chance to be the Galway goalie...potentially challenging for an All Ireland. So why not play for a good senior club if going to a Ros club.
