Best of luck to Mark Dowd and team, great to have it sorted now. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 312 - 16/08/2025 13:36:07 2632106 Link 0 |
How does Dunnings CV compare to Mark Dowds? Bar the good but short spell with the u20s it seems fairly light.

Manager CV are largely irrelevant at inter county now. It's all about the coaching ticket as manager is just an organiser

He hadn't put any together either was hoping that some that was on board with him with the U20s last year would come on board with him if appointed. In the end the best and most experienced of the local managers that put their names forward has been selected The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4138 - 16/08/2025 14:39:24 2632118 Link 3 |
This is a big issue with this forum, half stories, vague references and rumour.

Irrelevant? What good is a top coach if the manager is struggling in the job. Coaching ticket is very important but look at Mayo, stellar backroom team but couldn't tie it together.

This is a great news and well done to all involved making it happen. Mark's has top class experience and has won against the odds particularly with Strokestown. I hope John rogers can join him who was a key part of the minors and whose coaching is well regarded. It will also be a welcome parting with all the negativity in the county. Fresh start and looking forward to division 1 football back in ten Hyde already. Ros2013 (Roscommon) - Posts: 552 - 16/08/2025 15:30:00 2632127 Link 0 |
Best of luck to Mark. Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 67 - 16/08/2025 17:04:51 2632137 Link 0 |
Absolutely. Most of us felt it was time for a native Roscommon Manager so best of luck to Mark Dowd. He knows the club scene well and that's an advantage. Hopefully he has a successful term in charge. You never know. Brian Cody had no inter county management experience when appointed Kilkenny Manager in 1998 and he won 11 All Irelands in the next 17 years. I'll take Marking delivering a Connacht title and it would be great to win a championship game in Croke Park.

Yes FullOfPorter. Hoping we are like Kerry this year. Other teams getting players back anything possible in knock out rounds Roscommon man in charge of Roscommon. Tough ask in division one and his back room team will need to be experienced. Good luck mark BrigidsToom (Roscommon) - Posts: 38 - 16/08/2025 20:53:06 2632161 Link 0 |
And if ye lads go all the way to an AIF he'll be 10 or mire players short in the early League games. I'd settle for staying in D1 as our main target for next year. Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 67 - 16/08/2025 21:44:45 2632171 Link 0 |
Ridiculous comment organiser snd director basically had keep together such nonsense cos he but manager oversee it also important. Tell likes limerick or kerry that their manager aren't worth anything st all
