Fantastic 9 point win by the Roscommon minors over Mayo tonight. Playing with the wind they were 9 points up (2-3 to 0-0) after only eight minutes of play. Sam Hannon had a great first half kicking 7 points. We lost several kickouts at midfield for a while and Mayo got it back to 3 points by half time. (2-8 to 2-5).
The team played very well against the breeze in the second half and kicked another 2-7 to Mayo's 1-4 for a great 9 point win.
Might be unfair to pick out some players, but Sam Hannon, Tadgh Rogers, Christopher Feerick, Dara Curran ( Fantastic goal, but did turn over possession a few times), Cian Timble ( great interceptions from goal) were very prominent. Dean Casey made a major contribution when he came on and Shay McGuinness won some important ball around the middle in the second half. Very mature play by all the team in the second half.
Nearly guaranteed to get directly into the Connacht final.
Well done to all involved.
Best of luck to the senior team tomorrow.

Outstanding performance from the minors tonight, inspiration leadership from the captain Curran with 2 3 , the 2nd goal was extra special. Sam Hannon kicking some unbelievable points from distance, others to standout on the day were Ferrick with a great 2nd half performance. All round great performance from a team with eyes on the bigger prize. Into the all ireland Quarter Final but are looking to win Connacht. Next up for Roscommon are the winners of Mayo or Galway in the Connacht Final.

Brilliant goal by Dara Curran in the second half. Great skill by the Castlerea player. Well deserved win for Roscommon.

Unreal result. Was this a highly tipped minor team? A few lads there with all Ireland colleges medals.

Mighty stuff by the U17s got off to flyer 2-3 no score then let Mayo back into. Work rate and team play excellent 2nd half as we won by nine and that didn't flatter us.

Into the Connacht final for 2nd year in a row and hopefully we'll go one better than last year we certainly have the talent to do so and are well coached.

Already into the final with Galway Mayo playing each other and both can't finish on 6 points

Job done after a wobble 1st half against the wind. 2-26 scored,12 different scorers and winning by 19. I certainly would have taken that before the game.

Fair play, they had a job to do and they did it. You can't judge too much on that game but great to see so many pitching in with scores and hopefully brings back a bit of confidence to the team. Ben very lively. Tackling still something we need to work on though. Galway will be a completely proposition. A well earned two week break now.

Well done lads, got their teeth into it 2nd half and did the job.
Hard to concentrate on the game with the Fleadh Ól all around the place making the match a sideshow.
Now for the real thing in the wind tunnel....

Makes one wonder what idiot told the DJ to start his set midway through the 2nd half?

The wind tunnel probably won't be as windy as yesterday.

Good win in the end. Off to a great start and looked like we would run away with it but fair play to London, they found their feet and got back into it before half time. They made life difficult for us against the breeze, with their "layers" as their management continued to remind them about! I don't think Ros ever felt uncomfortable though, Only ever going to be one outcome in 2nd half when we went through the gears and London couldn't sit in deep anymore. Great to see Ben flying again, Neary had good moments, Heneghan kicked a good score when he came on. As said previously, the football was a sideshow, lot of Rossies around enjoying the weekend and the festival atmosphere! And yes, the music starting up during 2nd half was a bit strange. I didn't stay around after the game, came home again last night but seemed to be a good buzz with the weather certainly helping! Hope everyone enjoyed their day and night and all make it home safe over the next day or two

Good weekend across the pond, agree with a lot of the comments, the music in the 2nd half was strange and it did feel more like a festival with a game of football on in the background.

On the match, London got stuck in and held out well for the first 45 minutes, kicked some nice scores. Again some worrying parts of our game defensively. Tough test in 2 weeks time against a very well drilled, organised and talented Galway side. John Maher going off last night with an injury could be a huge boost for Roscommon.

Did I see somewhere Joyce downplaying it. Either way we have a huge battle on our hands. It will be a serious step up in intensity. Standing off men and getting flimsy tackles in will be punished against Galway so hopefully we are tightened up and matching their intensity. I'd like to see us scraping and fighting for every dirty ball. Work rate needs to be second to none. Hooks and blocks as they'd say in small ball.

Who takes Comer if Stack isn't ready?

Hard to know what to do with Comer at the minute, its likely it will be Murray as I don't see any of our other defenders able to match him for intensity and strength if he is in at 14. As a man marker, I like Pearse Frost when he plays for Brigits but may just be too much of a step up right now. I would be as wary about Finnerty inside, he is a real danger and a threat. We'l also need a real effort from our half forward line, Molloy and Hernan love to get forward and are dangerous if let go, along with the obvious threats of McDaid, Walsh and Conroy.

Is there a set venue for the game also? Nothing on GAA officially up as of yet.

Wasn't it fixed for Salthill at 4pm Easter Sunday 20th -- about a month ago?

Where did get that information from and has it been confirmed?
Normally two live games shown on TV on a Sunday, one around 2.00pm and the other around 4.00pm.
The times of these fixtures should have been confirmed months ago to allow people to make arrangements (travelling etc) on an Easter Sunday from various locations. (Bank Holiday weekend)
If it is a 4.00pm kickoff for example it may be too late to get the last train back to Dublin I would think.

It could be a tough ask for Frost or Neary. I think Fallon might be a good man to track Walsh. He has pace, physical and seems to have a good football brain. Galway have dangermen everywhere if they are let play so all the full back line will have their work cut out. Agreed big game for half forwards and midfield as our weakness seems to be defending runners from deep.

Winning possession at midfield is going to be key. If Galway get on top for long spells we will be under serious pressure. We have a lot of big men there like Doyle, Nolan, Cunnane and Enda to compete in the air but Roscommon need to be all over the breaking ball. I think Murray would be a great man like a Paul Galvin type to battle for it.

Galway roscommon and mayo all did what they had to do the weekend and all 3 teams from what I saw have plenty to work on. For ourselves it's just crazy how we stand of teams and let them shoot under no pressure. I just don't see that working against Galway who will kick 2 pointers for fun. I'm praying burke has a plan defensively for championship and they were holding back a bit. Around the middle 3rd these days you need big strong athletic footballers able to do everything from being very good defensively very good going forward and able to win ball around the middle is vital. I personally feel enda is carrying a knock or something he just isn't right so far this year. Great to see Ben do well the weekend but we need to up everything now our intensity in defense and how we attack needs to be upped big time. We will all know in two weeks where this team really is. We can win if we get things right and if we do I want to see consistency for the summer. The days of getting ourselves up for 1 or 2 games a year won't cut it anymore.
