Sounds like Ros and Monaghan are in a similar position as regards good attacking stats v leaky defence. We could be heading for a record tally for a losing team in the league on Sunday...score 3-28 and still lose! Monaghan have a good full back but are lacking a bit for pace in the corners and need to find a settled no.6 I'd be worried about a trend towards utter shoot-outs in football, if scores can be got too cheap it will get boring in a hurry. Personnel available could decide the fixture, Ros have a bit more depth so I'd expect them to take the points with home advantage, but there would be no surprise in a Monaghan win either. Expect a big travelling support and a good game. Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1150 - 13/02/2025 17:43:16 2590872 Link 1 |
Fair enough. Jesus I hope it's not Ciaran Murtagh dave1988 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1186 - 13/02/2025 18:36:42 2590878 Link 0 |
Louth and Down will up near the top come the end of the league. The next two are easier than those two. Monaghan a similar level to Louth with Meath being our easiest game so far. Daly99 (Roscommon) - Posts: 7 - 14/02/2025 11:31:05 2590940 Link 0 |
I don't know about that. I'm hearing good things about Meath so I wouldn't take them for granted. Monaghan will beat louth and down.

They'll be nothing easy about Meath in Navan especially now they are managed by a recent club All Ireland winner instead of Colm O'Rourke who had Meath soft and easier to beat.

Sunday is mostly down to who is available for both sides. Monaghan will be without our 2 best so far in the league, Hamill & McAnespie. So far we're missing starters like O'Hanlon, Mohan, Woods, Ward & also Bannigan the last day. Roscommon possibly have a similar story to tell but the fact that we're both on 4 points is a bonus. Home advantage obviously a big advantage for Rossies. May the best team win !

Your best in the league so far was probably C McCarthy,D Garland and the ever green Beggan in goal. Mooney has been showing well also Jack McCarron will likely get his first start in this game after scoring 1-3 off the bench so far. Bannigan missed the last match due to chest infection so should be back on Sunday. Not sure about a "big advantage" about the Hyde but hopefully enough to get us over the line in expected competitive encounter. Safe travels if you are making the trip. There's no easy games at this level. On paper though Meath are our easiest fixture of the first 4.

Team named and I would expect changes before throw in. Shane Killoran picked up knock in training but still named on the 26. Robbie Dolan back on the match day panel for the first time since the Armagh AI Quarter final match last year. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3950 - 14/02/2025 21:58:26 2591071 Link 0 |
Is killoran the injury you were talking about?

No he's named on that published starting team and won't be playing tomorrow. Another two of the above named 15 are doubtful also. Ciarain Murtagh you asked about he's fine and fit to start. We have already showed our strength in depth in the opening rounds and hopefully will again tomorrow, best of luck to Roscommon. An interesting team named. John McManus at full back and Colm Neary who has been outstanding named in the half back line . Pearses players to come back. Management have a strong panel with plenty of options to pick from. Let's hope it all falls into place because if it does, Roscommon have the potential to go a long way this season.

Well what was said about a few injuries in the team that's selected we will probably see Niall and Ronan added for injuries. Good to hear cahal heneghan is back and I'm really looking forward to seeing Declan Kenny get a chance. A good friend of mine said his son marked Declan Kenny against Pearces and he reckons he has it all. Hes supposed to have a serious leap on him

Also big win for meath Tonight. They are going to be up there pushing for promotion. Cork got the job done also but westmeath are making life very difficult for anyone who plays them. We need to be at our best now to get out of division 2. As I have said tomorrow and next Sunday are going to be our toughest tests so far. Forget louth and down I don't think louth are that good tbh and they pushed us all the way. Tomorrow I want to see a solid defensive performance and not allow Monaghan run through us. dave1988 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1186 - 15/02/2025 20:09:15 2591207 Link 0 |
You probably won't see the latter as it seems in Div 2 more than other division little or no focus is put on defending and it's why all games are more high scoring than elsewhere.

Division 2 scorelines are like hurling results.

With the players that are rumoured to be out, it's a huge test today. Massive loss. Anyway, leaving for The Hyde now, let's hope we can get the job done regardless, would be a huge win if they can pull it off. D.Hyde (Roscommon) - Posts: 235 - 16/02/2025 12:29:50 2591316 Link 0 |
Thought Conor hand was very good. Big improvement from last year Ross1 (Roscommon) - Posts: 12 - 16/02/2025 16:06:32 2591363 Link 0 |
He was excellent, especially in 2nd half.

Delighted with the win and indeed 3 wins in 3 matches but the 1st half wastefulness of not scoring from five big goal chances and giving away two bad goals would have been the main reason had we not won. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3950 - 16/02/2025 16:33:50 2591379 Link 1 |
