Hard luck to Elphin losing 1-7 to 1-6. They'll look back on that final with much regret. Wasn't easy to score into the scoreboard end today with that wind and the goal from a defensive error was very costly along with 4 wides in a row with the wind advantage 2nd half.

When Elphin get over today's disappointment they will be pleased with their years work and if they manage to stay up in senior level it will be another good year next year for Elphin.

Look back on today with regret?? They were fairly poor for 40 minutes today and even last week they looked average enough. Best team won today and elphin can't have any regrets let's be honest. Elphins big players have been poor the last couple of weeks and if Davy burke was there today he won't be bringing anyone in to county panel

Yes with regret. First the pure give away of goal which was totally unlike them in the championship this year. Key to beating Strokestown,Eire OG, Easten Harps in their last three games was conceding no goal and all those teams have as good or as dangerous forwards as Crossmolina have.

Elphin had 18 shots on goal to Crossmolina's 12 so their shooting efficiency on the day will be another regret and the last one was playing 10 minutes of the 2nd half with 14 men with needless black card. All adds up in a one point defeat.

Finally three Elphin players will be on the county panel in 2025 all selected by Davy and co before the Connacht campaign commenced.

Neutral view point on that Connacht Intermediate final.

Crossmolina the best team in opening 30 minutes as they led 0-6 to 0-1 and Elphin the best in the 2nd half as they out scored the Mayo champions 1-5 to 1-1.

Crossmolina only had one wide with the wind advantage to Elphin four wides with the wind 2nd half. In a one point loss the goal Crossmolina got can't be ignored either, if you are to concede a goal you at least make the opposition work hard for it, not only was it a misplaced pass by a Elphin defender but the goal scorer Niall Coggins left unmarked when turned over. I agree Elphin will have regrets but at the same time only themselves to blame for what was a very winnable Connacht final for them

Anyone know any word of Roscommons Allianz league fixtures and if there out yet, it's ridiculous nothing has come out.

But cavans and downs are out and from that we know we're playing Down first at home on the 26th of jan at 2pm then our 6th game is against cavan on the 15th or 16th of march.

Look they made mistakes all day but they were the same against harps the week before. Very sloppy and careless with the ball and when ya turn over the ball so easily ya don't deserve much. I said nobody on elphin team would have made an impression on burke but obviously Higgins will remain part of his plans and I do like Brady in goals.

Best of luck to Pearces tomorrow. I think they will win by 3/4 points and I think they will beat Cuala.
All the new rules passed today and all I can say is best of luck to any referee trying to implement these rules at club level. I honestly see these rules causing absolute mayhem next year. I like the solo and go, 3 players to stay beyond half way and the 2 pointer isn't to bad but some of the smaller rules are going to cause mayhem.

With all new rules having sailed through with little or no debate at congress we are going to have a very different game in 2025 with likely the fittest and best panels lasting the longest in the business end of the championship. On the topic of fitness was have brought in a new strength and conditioning coach in Dan Moore and panel will be stronger than this year with C Murtagh,C McKeon,C Daly,E Nolan and S Killoran back on the panel. Hopefully we have decent luck with injuries including Cathal Heneghan,Ben O'Carroll who missed most of 2024 season with injury.

Best of luck to Padraig Pearses in Connacht senior final tomorrow. With the poor weather and heavy pitch plus coolera/strandhill who strength in defensively It will be a big surprise if we get a classic or high scoring game. So long as Pearses don't lose discipline (have been good in that regard this year) they should use their experience to prevail.

Winner will play Cuala in the All Ireland semi final in Jan after their one point win in the Leinster final today.

Very disappointing day for Pearses they'll look back on the 35 shots they had 80 minutes. Other than Declan Kenny, Jack Tumulty not many of their players played well.

Can't be begrudge Coolera Strandhill their first ever Connacht title and Sligos first since 1983. Their accuracy and shot selection was superb the very opposite of Pearses, showed great heart and work rate throughout the 2nd half and extra time when they knew the winning of the game was there for them. I hope they can beat Culua next.

Not good enough from Pearses. Should have won that from the position they were in at half time. Defensively very poor from Pearses.

On a positive note Davy Burke will have everyone available for the start of the league with Pearces getting beat. He will have a fairly strong panel this year so we need to seriously push on. The new rule of 3 players staying forward will suit us. Ben O'Carroll will love that space in front for a long kick pass

No excuses next year as regards panel. Of course there may be withdrawls and injuries between now and first league game.Having to start last years league without a proper rest for the Bridgets players didn't help our cause.Pearses looked good at times but the Sligo boys never looked beaten even when five points down. As for the new rules I always wonder why with the forwards we have the long kick pass was seldom used in the last few seasons. Don't think the leopard will change its spots next year. Same old same old I fear.

Does anybody know how many of our senior panel are playing Siggerson Cup this year?
For example will Ben and Daire still be involved with UCD in a few weeks time.
Any lads in final year in college are under serious pressure from all sides. Same applies to all counties.

And have to play in the old rules in the Sigerson cup and then the new rules in the NFL can't blame any inter county players if they are left confused.

Suprisingly poor by Pearses yesterday. Let down badly by shooting accuracy and shot selection however that tends to be issue over the years for Roscommon teams. I recall a highly fancied U20 team doing the same in the same venue a few years ago and last year Roscommon seniors did simliar against Mayo, Armagh.

Markievicz Park has not been a happy hunting ground for Roscommon teams and that continued again yesterday.
I had expected a Pearses win. Best of luck to Coolera Strandhill in the All Ireland semi final. Sligo football is definitely on the up.

I'd say only leading by two points at half time when Pearses had 60% possession of the ball, 15 shots on goal compared to 5 for Coolera-Strandhill and their keeper struggling with his kick outs in that half (he improved 2nd half) proved costly.
