More importantly, any news on the Jimmy Murray statue?

Well done to Barrys on a hard fought one point win to reach the Junior A final, they will now go on to represent Roscommon in the Connacht championship. Former county player David Keenan among their stand out players and popped up with two point. Cillian Cambell county U20 player from this year also good.

In this afternoon game in the Hyde it was a poor match that never got going for us neutrals but Pearses once again showed their strength by winning by 9 points and holding Faithleachs to 0-3 and Diarmuid and Ciarian Murtagh scoreless. Will be hard to beat in the final and if they win again hard to beat in Connacht. Paul Carey good again with 0-4 and Declan Kenny their stand out player in this championship with 1-1. Niall Daly would have been MOTM for me.

Roscommon Gaels B v Clann B to be played tonight was called off due to the sad and sudden passing of John Naughton RIP.

May John rest in peace.
Pearses' title to lose now.
Wasn't that Kenny lad on the County panel early this year?
He's certainly looked the part last couple of games.
" Young" Niall Daly not doing too bad either.

Enjoyable afternoon of football. Strokestown and Fuerty was a competitive battle for 45 minutes then Strokestown finished the game very impressively to win by 11 points. Seven points for Diarmaid McGann and 1-3 for Shane McGinley the main scores. With the extra time in Hyde Park I only got to see the 2nd half of Elphin v Éire Óg a real tight tense cagey affair with Elphin over turning last years three point win the semi final to win by three points. Strokestown v Elphin a hard final to call and whoever wins will fancy their chances of winning Connacht.

Roscommon Gaels as expected progress to the county Senior final and made to work extremely hard to get there. Glaveys looked in a great position when 2-9 to 0-11 in front but the Gaels fought back to score 4 points in a row and force extra time.

First goal of extra time and would turn out to be Glaveys final score was a Rob Heneghan goal. Better bench and fitness allowed Gaels win by 4 points. Ryan Conlon, Tim Lambe was superb for the winners. Darragh, Rob and Cathal Heneghan good for Glaveys.

A repeat of the 2019 senior final will we get a repeat result?

Two good games of football in Kiltoom and The Hyde

Strokestown progressing well and have some quality footballers. They will not fear Elphin however all the pressure is on strokestown

Senior semi final was another enjoyable game. Glaveys not to finish it off will be tough to take for them. They've had a good year winning div 2 and getting to a semi final. Have to admit did not see them getting out of the group after first game when we played them in the first championship game.

Roscommon Gaels will be delighted. Can they go and win it now? Unfortunately I think Pearses will be to strong for them.

Any news on who'll play for the Connacht team from Roscommon in the inter pros? Plenty of talk of Joyce taking over the team and talk about the tv coverage. Not a word on any panels yet though from what I can see. Would be very interested to see what players from Ros are called in

No Pearses, Ros G , Strokestown or Elphin.
Joyce won't call Carroll because he chose Ros over Galway.
It's a case of who is available ir interested then.
Presumably lads like the Smiths and Diarmuid based in Dublin could fit it in.
Stack a certainty if interested but going non stop from January 2023 to September 2024 might need a break from football.
Mind you Enda could do with one too.

Lots of phone calls by Joyce next week I expect.

Rumours Tadhg O' Rourke retiring from County.
If so thanks for the service Tadhg and enjoy the Club game from here on

Rumours are confirmed now. In truth Tadhg was unable to recover fully from the bad injury he picked up during 2023 Div 1 campaign. This year only featured in a handful of games for Roscommon. Best of luck to him on his inter county retirement, he gave some service to his county since involved with the development panels as a young teen.

Should we beat London next year we'll have to face the defending Connacht champions of the last three years Galway on their home patch. On RTE they were talking about another Galway v Mayo final so a bit of fuel for the fire already.

Sligo are improving. For the third year in a row, Galway and Mayo kept apart in the draw so Davy is not a lucky general.

The Munster draw with one of Tipp,Clare,Waterford into the final a poor one for Roscommon also. Davy Burke will have to take Div 2 serious now as 6th in Div 2 and don't reach the Connacht final means Roscommon will go into the Tailteann Cup for 2025. For the record Louth was 6th in Div 2 this year and reached the last 8 of the championship.

Have been corrected on this. Avoid 7th or 8th place in Div 2 and Roscommon will avoid the Tailteann Cup for 2025 regardless what happens in Connacht championship.

No disrespect to the other seven teams in division 2 next year (Monaghan, Cavan, Cork, Meath, Louth, Down, Westmeath) but I see no reason why we should not be pushing for promotion back to division 1 next year, rather than be worrying about the Tailteann Cup and relegation.

True but we can take nothing for granted. Interesting to see who have the management team found as new additions to the panel from this year's club championship. Also how many players are leaving and how many players are coming back from the last year or so out.

Monaghan no doubt will be aiming to bounce straight back to Div 1 after spending a decade there. Cork have to make a move sometime relegated from Div 1 in 2016. Meath have got All Ireland club winning manager and will that improve them to push for promotion? Louth having reaching the last 8 of the championship should be in the mix for promotion. Hard to know with Cavan. Westmeath and Down will be happy to stay up.

Interesting final this Sunday in Hyde Park. All indications point to a Pearses victory but they will be tested by a resilient Roscommon Gaels team. Pearses have strengthened since their last county final win with some excellent young players starting and making a huge impact. Roscommon Gaels have some great players in the Lambes, Purcells, Gillooly and old reliables like John McManus and Cian Connolly,

Predicting a Pearses win but closer than people expect.

Here is my team of the Championship so far:

1. Paul Whelan (Padraig Pearses) -
2. Shane O'Malley ( Glaveys) -
3. Senan Lambe (Ros Gaels)
4. Caelom Keogh (Padraig Pearses)
5. Declan Kenny (Padraig Pearses)
6. John McManus (Ros Gaels)
7. Darren Nerney (St. Faithleachs)
8. Niall Daly (Padriag Pearses)
9. Mark Purcell (Ros Gaels)
10. Robert Heneghan (Michael Glaveys)
11. Andy Glennon (Michael Glaveys)
12. Ryan Conlon (Ros Gaels)
13. Diarmuid Murtagh (St. Faithleachs)
14. Paul Carey (Padraig Pearses)
15. Peter Gillooly (Ros Gaels)

Honorable mentions to Davy Murray, Daragh Walsh, James Featherstone, Ruari Fallon, Tim Lambe, and Cathal Henghan.

Best of luck to both teams Sunday.
