The Pepper Mill right beside the Hyde is a lovely spot, very underrated. No alcohol though I don't think if that's what ye were looking for.

Some nice spots in town then too; Rogue, Jackson's, Regan's

Hannons, food is fairly good, friendly staff. Be on the other side of the Hyde from where you're coming from but can leave the car outside and wait for traffic to die down before you head home.

Makes you think of the great players and great potential which we lost early through injury or other reasons, Niall Carty must have been only mid twenties? Would Collins have been similar age? Mullooly, McInereny, Domican...the Comptons. Backs and midfielders, all areas we couldn't afford to be losing our most talented players in. I know its been mentioned on here before how some of our best defenders didn't end up staying long-term with the county.

Collins and Mulooly really sting, two animals. Thought with Collins in particular we had a full back for about 10-15 years

McInerney Collins and mullooly were brilliant. Collins last year with us would have been 2016 I think. Collins still would only be 33/34. Is mullooly playing for strokestown this year.
Onto the game Sunday. I can't see how we get a win. I hope we are competitive and also hope burke gets things right. If we get beat in our next two games I can't see us turning things around for championship in a few weeks.

Moving on to Sunday, The national and local media in their previews have totally wrote us off and I haven't met anyone from Roscommon that doesn't think Kerry will win and most think they'll win a bit to spare at that. So what have we got to lose when nothing is expected?

What I want to see is a competitive 70 minute performance whereby we up the intensity and effort levels. We'll especially need to improve on the breaking ball in the middle eight and get back to what we were doing well defensively last year such as in Tralee when a full strength Kerry was held 1-12. If all of that happens and its still not good enough to win then so be it but not producing a reaction to that truly woeful 2nd half display against Mayo will be concerning with the championship just around the corner.

Call me delusional but I had been thinking this is a game we could win. Like you say, we were not far away last year. The second half against Mayo has knocked the confidence a bit but I'd say this is a game the team are targetting and if they could just summon some of the defensive solidity from last year and improve intensity levels I think we could be in with a right shout.

I just think we're bound to get a reaction of some sort after Mayo game, it's a do or die game for us.

If there's a big crowd in the Hyde and it's a dirty, slobbery day as promised, stranger things have happened than us turning them over.

In saying that, I am basing this "confidence" off very little other than delusion unfortunately!

The defensive system we had last year seems to be gone out the window. We are fairly easy get at right now. Just hopefully Kerry aren't fully at it and we improve massively on the mayo performance. We will need a massive performance from our lads to get anything

A 70 minute performance badly needed.
We seem to only have a 15 minutes before half time in us this NFL.
The tight defence of 2023 does indeed seem well gone as we resemble the 2017/18 McStay style of open defending but without the high scoring of those days.

Hopefully it's all a cunning plan preparing for the AI series and not a sign of a squad and management in disarray.
