It may sound harsh, but the losing of the game was when in total control, Shane Walsh trying to be fancy in front of goal and losing possession, leading to Liam Silke cynically fouling and giving Dublin a penalty and picking up a black card. Some consolation in that we wouldn't keep it kicked out to Kerry on that form. Interesting that we lost to Roscommon and Dublin from 6up with 10-15mins left. I think this team 2022-2026 have always been reliant on Walsh, McDaid and Kelly for real pace, the sort of pace required to win it all these days. Kelly couldn't start, and on recent form, Walsh and McDaid have lost their 4th and 5th gears. We looked a bit one paced in key areas all day today; and still bizarrely bossed that second half until we went 6up. The wheels came off after that.

Well we didn't push on when we had the chance but absolutely every 50/50 call went the dubs way. I can accept their penalty being given IF we get one for a similar foul later on but no not the case. Unfair to point fingers at keeper and defence, when we've a largely one paced attack, and a 37 year old midfielder who owes Galway nothing. Did the slowness of our offence first half today remind you of last year's abject effort vs Meath into the same goal? You won't win too often at this level relying on immaculate 2pointer kicking and zero wides.

You weren't far off. Niall Scully was excellent. Our heroes owe us nothing and died on their shields. They may have tired towards the end - father time.. Congrats. to Dublin.

Gut wrenching, sick to my stomach, a team of lovely footballers who lack the killer instinct to kill off a game. Fair play to the dubs but this Galway team will be kicking themselves. A rebuild required is the first thing that comes into my mind. Was so similar to the way Galway lost the Quarter-final to Meath last year no progress from that. A solid defence under the old rules is anything but the last two years and the goalkeeper and defensive issue Galway have had the last two years was strangely ignored by people tipping them to win the All-Ireland

You are spot on there. First half was a replay of our first half last year v Meath. Do we not learn from our mistakes? We needed a higher tempo game to test their fitness playing 3 games in a row but instead played at walking pace. The moment at 5 points up where Walsh took on 3 players and turned it over was absolutely massive.

It wasn't unreal. We pretty much saw the same against Roscommon. 6 up with 10 minutes left in that one. We almost let Westmeath catch us as well. A 9 point lead with 6 minutes left wasn't safe in that case. Only for Comer won the last kickout, they could very well have levelled it. I'm not going to put the boot in to anyone individually, but we saw some of the same issues we've been looking at for 6 years. We all know what the major one is and we're still no better at it. We've been backboned by a strong U21 All-Ireland finalist team in 2017 and an U20 All-Ireland winning team in 2020, plus a few very talented older players. This coupled with Dublin's inevitable slide from their peak, left us with opportunities to win an All-Ireland but we didn't manage it. I'll never question the effort the lads put in and their resilience has been shown many times, but we've come up short and it's of our own making. We've been poor underage for the last number of years. There's no arguing otherwise. Some people think that's harsh, but it's the reality. It's very difficult to see how we're going to have a better chance in the next few years. The drought from 66 to 98 isn't far off being eclipsed. I'd love to know how many championship games Galway have lost as favourites in the last 5 years. I'd be surprised if there's a team which has lost more, especially big knockout ones. We're a big well-resourced county. Our return at the top level is extremely poor in both codes, given this. People on here slag Mayo. Our own record is awful. I know everyone is doing their best for the betterment of Galway football, but a county if our size shouldn't be going 4 or 5 years without a provincial underage title. I wouldn't point many fingers at all at the defence, but the kickout was a massive issue. There was little wrong with our attacking play for much of the game. Our conversion rate from attacks was very high. Only Dublin's wastefulness kept us in it in the first half. They cleaned us on our own kickout. If you check the replay the initial foot contact was outside the box. Imho, the best we'd have got was a 13m free. Dylan is a nice footballer and gets into great box positions, but why his colleagues just don't make it a simple side handpass, and tap in option for him is unfathomable. The worst thing is, Dublin's body language displayed a resigned defeat in the last fifteen minutes. Galway then decided to open the double doors for them to walk through!! Galways attacking play was to slow and predictable also a Pity more of the Galway players didn't have the same determination and work rate as John mahar

Big rebuild but still lots to work with and good coaches within the county, no need to be going to Cavan to get 2 coaches.
