Replying To Gaillimh_ar_dtús: "Give Cyril Farrell a mic and I'll listen to him talk all day, no bother... But does anyone know why GBFM has a dedicated "Hurling Chat" but no big-ball equivalent? One of my more minor bugbears when it comes to their treatment of our football.
For what it's worth, I'm grateful for the Maroon & White Pod. It took me a while to get into it... and it still drives me soft from time to time when you can't hear what the guests are saying... but there's a decent mix of guests. The odd one is controversial, but that's no harm. I don't want to agree with everything everyone has to say.
I don't know Paul Shaughnessy from Adam, but I find him very even-handed as a podcast host. And it's never about himself. He strikes me as a genuine servant to Galway GAA. From the football side especially, it says something that this level of coverage is coming from one man's own initiative rather than from a local broadcaster.
Gaillimh abú."
A genuine guy whos improving as time goes on. He started that as a teen essentially with no equipment. Took me awhile to get into too. Some great guests but could do with leaving Barry Cullinane to focus on the Cork GAA scene.
A good lad who gives great coverage to be fair to him.

With all rumours just said I'd throw that one out there , I don't think I'd take him back he was on the management team that lost to Armagh in a brutal performance not pushing up on kickouts until it was 2 late last 5 mins ,under old rules he got away with it but as I've stated numerous times unless Galway get 2 new goalies a complete new half back line with pace and who actually kick ball into forwards not solo up field and give 2 yard hand pass to a player who is already marked , Galway need drop off panel that includes extended panel at least 8 if not more there are lads there for 3/4 years and getting virtual no games big shake up need in dugout and playing personnel"

Way over the top on the half back line, there's no better defender at kicking the ball then John Daly. Its about having a balance as O'Laoi was superb against Dublin and is very quick, Molloy who had a very good championship after a poor league and then you've got Sean Kelly & Dylan McHugh and a potential to move Hernon out there too. Its probably the one line where we've got huge depth, agree they need to kick the ball more often but that's on management.
Finding a keeper is imperative and hopefully the likes of Mulhern, McGlinchey, Costello & Mulryan can kick on too. I expect Ross Coen to get league time next year too.
There's really not a lot wrong with a team who was 6 points up against Dublin with 15 minutes to go, still a lot of talent there.

Agree with this wholeheartedly, it has markedly improved in terms of polish and insight the past year or so. Some of the guests aren't my cup of tea but that's the nature of sports podcasts, still end up watching nearly every episode. The club coverage has really been stepped up too in both codes.
