The better team won. Took their chances when they needed to and scored more than Armagh. Joyce made great use of the bench. Armagh defended solidly in parts but Galway exploited space a few times when their full back line was asleep. Their keeper looked shaky at times but they left him too exposed at times. Hope any of ye that travelled enjoyed the Athletic Grounds atmosphere. A great stadium when it's close to full.

Have you experienced football under the new rules? If the opposition puts any kind of a half decent press on then short kickouts are not a viable option end of story.

Armagh the better team but have to admire Galway for sticking with them and grinding it out. McDaid made a big difference but all subs made positive contributions. Well done to all.

Some stats probably don't make pretty reading, kickouts being the obvious one, but vital points won and that's the main thing."
Armagh kick outs, won 13 and lost 7

Galway kick outs, won 11 and lost 16

Of course would look a lot different with Darcy,Maher and Conroy available for selection.

Great to get the win and what impressed me most were the performances of McGlinchey and Shane McGrath. McGlinchey is such a composed performer, and a great team player. Imo, he and S. McGrath had a big influence on the result. Finnerty's lay off for Tierney's goal was sublime. What a game he had. Sean Kelly again was poor - seems to be lacking pace off the mark and not sure if he should be an automatic starter. Perhaps, he might be better utilised off the bench when things open up. If we get our kickout strategy sorted, which includes better coordinated play at midfield, we will be very difficult to beat.
