For the sake of his long term health? Repetitive hamstring and muscular injuries aren't something which are going to impact his quality if life in later years? It's not as if he's playing through a degenerative hip, knee or back injury. It's up to Damien to decide when he's going to hang up the boots and he has a medical team to advise him. I'd be delighted to see him keep going and I'll be hoping we get to see more of him on the pitch next year. He's the one who has to put in the work to do it however, so it'll be his call. If he can get himself fit for a run of games, he has a massive amount to offer Galway football. Condolences to Don Conellans's family and all who knew him. A man who gave his life to the GAA in Roscommon, Galway and UCG. Far too young an age to go. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2478 - 06/08/2025 07:02:53 2630216 Link 0 |
I dont doubt Damos quality but he cant be trusted to stay fit for Galway which is a loss to us more than anyone. Also everyone is a beter player when they are missing!! I would have to question the medics & S&C as he continuously has broken down and unavailble more so than available. Will hw kick a ball with Annaghdown this year?

Would you have some respect. What qualifications have you to be questioning professional medics? Some of the best resourced sports teams in the world have players that have injuries that are difficult to repair/rehab. Our players are amateur and unpaid. What they do as private citizens is none of your business. Finally, if you're going to say someone can't be trusted, at least have the decency to post your name and contact, so they or their legal representatives can discuss the issue with you. Cop on.

If he's only available next year for 3 or 4 20min cameos, as he was this year, then isn't that a good thing? What's it to you otherwise? Even in those short substitute appearances, he still made a big impact. As long as he's happy to commit then any Comer on the pitch whatsoever is better than none

It's no coincidence that so many key players are constantly injured. It points to poor management, rushed returns, and a lack of proper recovery or physio. If you're losing your best players year after year, you're not managing a squad, you're burning it out. The few months off the club games could be great for Damo to get himself back for next year.

Questioning Professional medics I have merely pointed out that it needs to be looked into as we have not had a fit Damo for years and god knows we needed him to get over the line. Every small little thing needs to be looked at we have been knocking on the door last 5 years and have had our best shot in 20 plus years to end the famine and I dont want Galway to let this opportunitty slip as I still feel we can end the long wait for Sam but time is ticking with this group. I dont trust that when it comes to the crux of champo football that he will be fit & available and I stand over that. We all seen what he did in his 20 min cameo against meath. I like every galway fan had hoped that he would go back & have a good league campaign with Annaghdown and be primed for Galway in 2026. It now looks like he could miss most of the club champo.
