If they can find somewhere for the lie down, arguably, there's no better place for away supporters than Galway on a summer Saturday night.

Beaten by the last kick of the game after the hooter went. Should have drawn or could have won but after Silke gifted that goal Galway was left chasing it and Dublin probably the better team for a hard earned win. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 447 - 17/05/2025 18:47:54 2610288 Link 0 |
Galway will need lesrn big time from this s I know there's two games to go but can't afford finish third in my opinion. Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 706 - 17/05/2025 18:48:57 2610289 Link 1 |
And end up in a preliminary Qfinal like last year?

Can't afford to finish third??? They would bite your hand off for third now. They're in bother, Derry have to see a huge opportunity in that Galway game now.

Would disagree Dublin much better team dominated the middle fluky goal kept us in it. A few things teared its head that have cropped us this season. Will look at further in week when watched game back jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1528 - 17/05/2025 19:07:16 2610308 Link 1 |
Well, I got it half right… we were fatally exposed at the back but we were second best around the middle. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1693 - 17/05/2025 19:09:36 2610311 Link 0 |
Coughed up a ridiculous gift of a goal in the first half and coughed up 2 or 3 points from messing up short kick outs in the second half. That's 1-2 or 1-3 gifted to the Dubs really. In a one point game. Kick outs were a big problem. Dublin just seemed to have more hunger for the breaking ball and O'Chofaigh Byrne had his best ever game for Dublin in midfield. Galway started the game very flat today. Maybe not over building themselves up for the Mayo game yet while Dublin had this game targeted for 3 weeks. Dublin with huge appetite, were deserving winners. Midfield the giant springboard and they were very effective playing their shooters into position. Galway on the other hand huffed and puffed to get scores. I also thought we were lethargic enough defensively and had Galway even got a draw, it would have masked over significant problems. Dublin prob deserved to sneak it although it is some sickner to lose to the last kick. Kilkenny is some player, absolutely class, dunno why we didn't man mark him as he dominated the key moments imo. To be fair to the lads , they were right in it, Dublin were good today and tactically got the better of us especially in the midfield battle. A few positives all the same, Finnerty, Cooke, Thompson, Molloy, Maher in the second half, great to see Daly back in the mix. Shane was quiet enough but the game will help get him sharper. Dublin lifted the level today and we should be the better of that game. Trucker1 (Galway) - Posts: 433 - 17/05/2025 19:39:03 2610329 Link 0 |
Walsh would have been better coming on for 20 minutes I know easy say it now. But even with the breeze he didn't add anything. Kelly was limping for a long time, hope to god he gets right soon. Thompson is getting better every day I see him. Not all doom and gloom. O'Dell seemed to do a lot of damage and our long kick outs didn't work a lot of the time smallfrank (Galway) - Posts: 508 - 17/05/2025 19:45:36 2610332 Link 0 |
Exactly, Dublin were much the better team bar a Galway burst at the beginning of the second half and a fluky goal.

Galway just not good enough against a new Dublin team that was beaten by Div 2 side Meath in Leinster. This Galway team will not win Sam. Dublin nearly always have Galway's number and so it was again today. Bringing in Walsh today was a mistake and Conroy has absolutely no pace. Very very very disappointing.

Galway still there. However today shows that the Connacht championship is weak at present. Roscommon have nothing and Mayo aren't much better. Matthew Thompson very impressive for Galway. Cian Darcy who ruled the sky against us virtually anonymous today. Theo Clancy excellent at full back for Dublin. It's a really open All Ireland championship . Four or five teams could win it and Galway, despite losing today, are still one of those teams. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2414 - 17/05/2025 20:02:46 2610345 Link 0 |
