Replying To galway19:  "Handy enough win for Oranmore in the Connacht minor final in Bekan. A late goal from Glencar Manorhamilton made the result look closer. Very big team with Michael Leahy and Alan Burke in midfield. Niall De Paor and Barry Keating up top are two classy forwards. Looking at the way the county final went and tonight, you'd expect Claregalway probably would have won Connacht as well. Very good management team with Sean Og De Paor and Tim Rabbitt."
An excellent team but in fairness they were nearly caught by Claregalway after basically hammering everyone along the way..
Sean Og and Rabbit would have been ran a mile if the county final had another few minutes as the some of their decisions were headscratchers..
Underage winning is good but the absolute key is getting them through to senior..
Claregalway have struggled and I'd say Oranmore won't find it easy also..

I saw Barry Keating play for the Galway U16s this year and he looks a serious prospect, 2 footed, tall and quick

What decisions did they make?

Replying To WanPintWin:  "I'd say almost certainly. I'm sure Mayo supporters have plenty discussion about some of the All-Ireland finals they narrowly lost. It's natural when you have that feeling of what could have been.
Good to see another poster from Donegal whose first post is in the Galway forum. We're honoured."
Ah ye I'd say you're probably right there in fairness.
I think most Mayo supporters would have recognised what a great Dublin team they were playing though.
Galway supporters don't seem to consider Armagh worthy to have even shared the field with their superstars.

Wasn't any great Dublin team they played in 2021 though was it!
Tyrone then no different to Armagh this year.
Why do you waste your time setting up new WUM accounts ffs

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Maybe some method in the madness/'derogatory replies'? Michaels didn't get it done yet, and Oranmore only went down on a whopping 0-19 to 0-7 scoreline, a week ago."
Not much on this forum about Ydays intermediate final.

Very entertaining game. Caltra stuck in there and could have taken the spoils.
Michael's will learn big time and expect them to win by 3/4 the next day.
They are probably just a little more down the line in terms of experience and conditioning than Caltra.

Also as we saw yday there is a lot to be said for having a big man at the edge of the square. Keane caused chaos anytime the ball went in high. I think this sort of player will become more valuable if the two point arc comes in. A lot of balls will be dropping short from shots which will lend itself to goal chances from high balls.

A good game yesterday early on looked like Michael's could have pulled away but Caltra kept at it and even in second half when Michael went 3 up they keep going and with a few mins left they actually looked like the team that were going do it Michael's seem to loose focus they were well rattled but it was a good game ,, one side note I thought € 25 was a bit steep for one match and € 20 for OAP and student hopefully replay they see common sense and reduce it

That's some amount of bile you have there Clare. Between that and setting up different accounts, maybe it's time you sought some help regarding the unhealthy fixation you have on Galway.

That Tyrone team probably in the same boat as Armagh and Galway this year to some extent. Not one of the fancied teams but got on a run, Armagh and Tyrone made the most of there chances in 2 strange years.
I would say though that Tyrone team were probably a bit ahead of either Galway or Armagh.

Whats a WUM?

No need for that.

I think it's you lot that need the help.
Accusing every 2nd person who disses Galway to be this clare one whoever they are.

Grow up and maybe learn that not everyone loves Galway. Even if this clare one who has seemed to have really pissed you off so much that no one else can be seen to dislike Galway without being this clare one.

Why don't you just enjoy your all stars and player of the year without being pathetic and acting like a 12 year old.

Yes thought it was a good game as well, Michael's looked the better side on the ball more composed ,Caltra gave a lot of silly frees away, but in fairness to caltra stuck with them and got a few nice scores, I do think Michael's will still win the replay I think opportunity lost yesterday for caltra, looking forward to the replay and totally agree entrance fee was a joke,

Looks like I touched a nerve there, but no need to throw your toys out of the pram. Things must be quiet enough in Mayo when you have clowns pretending to be from Donegal coming onto the Galway page still going on about the All-Ireland.

If you spent as much time concentrating on yourselves as you do on Galway, you mightn't be 73 years waiting to lift Sam.

There's no talking to them.
I actually didn't express any dislike for the Galway team and am delighted for Paul Conroy.
The arrogance out of the supporters though.

Good man, thinking for some reason you're miles ahead of a team you hadn't beaten in 70 mins in the previous 3 encounters is bad isnt it.

Exciting intermediate final and fair play to Caltra. I really thought after beating oranmore so comprehensively that Michael's were going to win this one easily but I have to admit to calling it wrong
On a couple of occasions it looked that way too but Caltra got the 2 goals and a few points just at the right times and we're actually unlucky enough not to sneak it the end. Would still fancy Michael's in replay but you never know and Caltra will take great heart from Saturday's performance.

Not enough talk about Conroy on here, winning player of the year as 35 year old midfielder is a phenomenal achievement. Those of us who say Conroy as a youngster knew he was capable of this.

A wonderful ambassador for the county.

Is underage football in trouble in Galway. Population base is where all A titles are going. You have Oranmore/Maree who have 12-15 k in there catchment area, adding to that they were 5-6 Clarinbridge players playing. Claregalway who probably have a similar catchment area with players from Turloughmore, Castlegar and Claregalway/Carnmore playing.. If you think of the Minors and there was at least players from 6 parishes playing. Is that fair? How many of them will fall back into playing hurling in their own parish. Years ago Corofin dominated but that was because they were better trained. At least the hurling is honest as the players who play are from their own parish. We won a minor A hurling a few years ago and they were all from Carnmore. No one from outside the parish. Don't rave about the under 19 and Dunmore getting to final, the only reason they got there, and they did have a nice team, but Claregalway were a lot stronger but they pulled the under 19s who play senior from playing the competition. Should the parish rule be enforced for under age anyway?
