Shane O'Donnell also skipped the league this year. It definitely didn't do him or Clare any harm.

Its the same for a lot of North Galway when it comes to hurling. Traditionally a football area, and not many hurling clubs.

Totally disagree all players are different. You don't put Damien comer on the same training plan as Jonny McGrath. I think that if Paul conroy says will be back next year but taking the league off id say grand see you in March. If tomo was to do likewise I would tell him no guarantee he'd come back in. I think players on the panel understand this and no issue with such scenario Different strokes for different folks jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1264 - 01/10/2024 10:04:16 2572659 Link 0 |
Did Jonny Glynn not do something similar in 2017.

I believe that half of Headford town in actually in Caherlistrane parish. And Headford pitch is in Caherlistrane parish. May help salthill in their argument to put a pitch into St. Michaels Parish. On that, our pitch in CG is in Turloughmore parish but at least some of them play with CG unless they are really good (like Daithi Burke) then they go to corofin.

Didn't know that was the case. Caherlestrane look like another team in real trouble, maybe when they get relegated they should consider joining up with Headford if there is already a crossover there ? I've been told there are now a few Amalgamations at Juvenile level, Northern Gaels ( Glenamaddy, Glinsk,Williamstown ), Eastern Harps( Ballinasloe, Menlough, Padraic Pearses), Gael na Gaillimhe ( seems to be Craughwell, Clarinbridge + others ), not sure of any other Amalgamated teams. Wonder are they working out well ? Would they continue as teams for Adult level ? I don't know if there's anything that would help Salthills argument in blatantly moving in on St. Michael's parish. Carna-Caiseal and Na Piarsaigh are also amalgamated at underage.

Caherlistrane have 4 adult teams. I don't think they need to amalgamate with anyone.

I would be very reticent about suggesting solutions for other clubs difficulties, if anybody has problem solving abilities let them put them into action in their own club if it exists?.There isn't any club that is all conquering and blessed with perfect facilities and an unblemished playing and administration record, so there is a job for anyone so inclined without poking into other clubs business. backtooldwall (Galway) - Posts: 133 - 01/10/2024 20:25:35 2572731 Link 0 |

Facilities is the key. I see Oranmore Maree will be the first club in Galway with a full size 4G floodlit pitch. Creggs Rugby Club another great example. BTW, my own club are way behind facilities wise and it does have an impact in getting families and kids down involved. smallfrank (Galway) - Posts: 440 - 02/10/2024 12:13:19 2572778 Link 0 |
Spot on. No 2 situations are identical. Manager has to make decisions, and hope he gets the majority correct.

Great game of football in Milltown this evening between Mountbelle/Moylough and Dunmore in the u19A North Board final. Some really exciting talent on show, for Dunmore, Jack Jordan, Padraig Martyn and obviously Colm Costello impressed. MM's Ciaran Mulhern looks a quality player amongst a few others that can help rebuild the senior side. Future looks very bright for both clubs. Is there any valid reason why teams cant do warm up's on pitch in Tuam Stadium, kick about at half time or let kids on to play? hopballref (Galway) - Posts: 417 - 03/10/2024 16:09:29 2572921 Link 1 |
Shorts answer is no. It would be great to have kids playing at HT of the big championship games. It's brilliant for the kids.
