Replying To LottoPlus:  "I dont think that Annaghdown will beat Salthill but what annoys me about Salthill, Moycullen etc is that they get players in from outside. They can field 3 teams in every age group yet they have to rely on outside players. CG (my own parish) did something similar a few years ago (with James Nallen etc) and it was not good for the club. The new Salthill Goalie ( a Limerick man) replacing another goalie who was also from outside "the parish" and the full back is now from Roscommon. Eoin Gallagher going into Moycullen like FFS. People criticise Dublin clubs but Salthill, Moycullen, St James are no better. At lease Claregalway, Annaghdown, Dunmore etc are all from their own parish. So much for being born into the parish you play football/Hurling for. So are the Big three real teams or are the bought in teams. For all the Salthill lads who say they live in the parish, they dont. I know of one player who lives in Castlelawn heights. That is Eire Og. I would love to see Annaghdown, Dunmore, Milltown, Caherlistrane etc clubs with players from the parish alone but that wont happen.......... this year anyway. I was going to mention Corofin but they also had Mike Lundy from James."
I get your sentiment but re the Salthill/Castlelawn Heights thing... yes that's part of the general area that Eiro Og covers but the fact is that there is absolutely no parish "boundaries" in the city and the parish rule does not apply there.
Not saying it's right but that is the way it is.
Much like in Dublin you can be from Lucan but play with Kilmacud if you so choose.

To be fair to Mick Lundy he transferred underage and was living in corofin at the time. Think there is a big difference between an underage player transferring as you put in resources to develop them vs an already established adult player who just joins.

Cian O'Neill has left Galway's management for Jack O'Connor's Kerry management.

What is the parish rule? Is it the civil parish or a particular religious denomination, civil and religious are vastly different in size as are the varying denominations.Players playing for teams outside their area is a long standing tradition in Galway football, the 56 team had a few outsiders in it' ranks and the 3 in row team had players from outside counties and other areas within the county playing other than their home area clubs who invariably were the strongest clubs at the time.Saying these were living the area concerned doesn't pass the smell test every time. The situation today is broadly in line with the past. the only difference is the club names. Information technology is the greatest difference, making all facts and rumours available to a much bigger audience.

Cian O'Neill gone. Definitely a loss but probably understandable given good commute.

Hopefully we have someone lined up.

You are absolutely correct regarding boundaries in the city. Both players mentioned are GP's in the city and live and work there. They are entitled to join any club in the city that they see fit. Regarding the players that joined Moycullen, apparently that was down to Don Connellan and again with no boundaries, why not? Tom Clarke, mayo, Niall Walsh, leitrim (Now on county panel thanks to Moycullen) and Gallagher, Antrim, can hardly be expected to travelling home 3 days a week for training and matches.

Cian O'Neill out... What's the thoughts? Possibly the start of a lot of changes on the management team...

Micheal Lundy and his family are living in Corofin since he was a teenager, don't be so ridiculous.

Thanks to Cian O'Neill. Nice guy and was all in as Galway coach. We were a shambles defensively before his arrival.

Who will replace him? Dave Morris seems to be hugely rated. Would be nice to tie it down quickly.

I said after the All Ireland final that Cian O'Neill would be departing, was to leave last year yet he reached a compromise with Joyce to stay on another year.

What are you on about.
James Nallen lives in Claregalway.
Annaghdown won a championship with Matt Duggan from Longford. Milltown have Mike Martin from Cortoon playing for them and recently James Kavanagh from Kildare, the last time they were in a county final they had John Cullinane from Oranmore Maree.
Caherlistrane had Johnny Glynn from Ardrahan playing for them a few years ago and Donal Feeney from Barna.
Michael Lundys father played for Glynsk and moved to the area when they were kids.

Long commute for him from Cork to be fair. Probably part of the attraction in going back to Kerry. Much closer to home.
