Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "He has been good in the last few games alright. But would I start him against a Limerick or Cork? No I wouldnt...likely to get more out of him sprung from the bench. Our new style of mainly a short passing game suits him well but imo he's not that effective in a long ball game."
I agree completely. His role is perfect as a "finisher" as they call them these days to pop over 2/3 points when legs get tired and space opens up later in games

Against the top teams, you can substitute some hurling ability for athleticism and the ability to break tackles etc.

Replying To 1shot:  "Is it just me or am I the only one that can't understand MD interviews after a game. Yesterday he focused on the come back and the fight of the players which is all well and good but surely we should not have be in that position. How many games is it now that teams are going straight through our defence and scoring goals for fun. Surly he should be trying to fix and strengthen the defensive package. Does he not see it? Dublin will target that area for sure. Please tell me he see it?"
The usual best tactic for a manager is to talk as much as they have to and divulge as little as possible, talk about the obvious and avoid the tactic issues they they may be contemplating or devising.

Replying To Viking66:  "It is an issue for you. We might have had a few more goals. Dublin are better than we are that way too. Maybe he didnt want to draw too much attention to any failings, which would surely be smart management no?"
You maybe right but it is very obvious in the last 3 games that the direct route through the Galway defence is reaping huge rewards for the opposition and I don't see any attempts at trying to tighten it up. Hopefully Daithi is ok as he has been the exception. You just can't keep conceding as we have and keep getting out of jail…no

In fairness to Monaghan, there isn't a shred of evidence to suggest that Galway have any alternative players either, that are capable of beating Limerick or Cork (the top teams) this year.

He came back on so I imagine he will be ok in a couple of weeks. 6 is still a problem for you going forwards though when Burke retires, Lee is a good attacking 6 but has very little by way of defensive instinct.
Thats not entirely why you are leaking goals though, the main issue is you arent tracking runners from deep who are arriving late to take a pass.

What would the chances be of Daithi, Cathal, Aaron and Rory being fit for Saturday week?

I think your issue here is looking for a shred of anything meaningful in any manager's post game interviews. Yes an All Ireladn winning manager sees that we are conceding goals.

I actually agree with our wexford lurker on that reather than the center of defence a lot of our issue is in tracking runners. Especially apparent when our wing backs are Mannion whose legs unfortunately are ont he way out and Lee who is not really a defender anyway. It starts with Neary and whoever is in the other wingforward spot imo and they will be big players for us in 2 weeks

Shane morgan is the only natural 6 playing in the county after daithi. 3 all Ireland minor medals in a row making history. Back to back county champion. Can't get a look in

He played well for you against Slaughtneil and Ballygunnar. Has he played much for Galway at Senior?

There is no way that anyone who is good enough isn't getting a look in.
