Seemingly Dublin were lucky to defeat Offaly and we know how poor Offaly were against Galway and then Dublin beat Wexford. Make sense of that for me?

It's Leinster Round Robin. It's not supposed to make sense! We lost to Antrim then beat yourselves last year. We lost to Westmeath then beat Kilkenny the year before. We drew with Westmeath then beat Kilkenny the year before. And all the time we have only beaten Dublin once since 2008. There's no sense to it all. I can't call this one, both teams are fairly unpredictable. I will say that Galway at 1/3 is a bit mad and if I was a wexford man I'd be having a bet on Wexford. Gun to my head I'd be leaning towards home advantage swaying it our way. But no result from a Galway 8 point win to a draw to a Wexford 8 point win would surprise me Overdahill (Galway) - Posts: 38 - 08/05/2025 10:50:37 2607550 Link 1 |
Galway handicap of -3 , Kilkenny-12 and Antrim + 9 looks a nice one!

From floating around the Country there is not a word about the Wexford game. Most people I met have spoken about how will Galway be looking in the Leinster Final v Kilkenny? katser (Galway) - Posts: 2556 - 08/05/2025 11:47:19 2607568 Link 1 |
I was asking the tigerish one!

Same as that

Would imagine we will go with similar forward line structure as last game. Cathal playing inside around Beano and Colm Molloy and then leave Whelan out at wing forward. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 889 - 08/05/2025 15:49:24 2607633 Link 0 |
That seems mad to me. You might but us or Dublin but I doubt you'll beat both to be honest.

We never make sense. There's always twists and turns in the round robin in fairness. Dublin have a good record against you. We've a great record against Kilkenny. Yourselves and Dublin have been eliminated from round robin more often than us, but also reached more Leinster finals than us. We're experts at finishing third........ We seem to produce a performance every other year against ye so statistically we're due a bad one.... However I do think there's a huge amount at stake for us so I expect the players to leave everything on the pitch. If we can do that we've a chance. If we can't, we'll be beaten and won't deserve to go through. Being a Wexford man... Out of our next 3 games I fear Offaly the most..... madness really Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3565 - 09/05/2025 07:38:45 2607733 Link 0 |
Jason Rabbitte on the bench for seniors tomorrow. Must be going well in training to be making the 26 for championship at his age. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 889 - 09/05/2025 09:52:41 2607753 Link 0 |
Unlike most lads his age, he's got the physical attributes to make the step up already. He's a fine hurler too.

Definitely has the skill, savage hand on him for puckouts. Great prospect and seemingly he was flying it in senior training before the Kilkenny game. It's a bit unusual for lads who are u20 again for another year to be making Galway senior championship matchday squads and we have the u20 semi final next Wednesday. He was actually quiet enough in the Offaly u20 game but still got 1-03 from play.

He's a very good hurler

Jason rabbitte on the first 26 ahead of Shane Morgan is criminal for me, no offence he's a young lad l, but One the best half backs in the county not injured and can't make the 26. No wonder players don't make it with Galway when they're overlooked. Simple as BigBàsMan (Galway) - Posts: 125 - 09/05/2025 12:51:05 2607805 Link 0 |
Rabbitte is taking a forward spot not the one of Shane Morgan! It's Josh Ryan, Grealish, Shane Cooney that are ahead of Morgan.

He got a go against cork and to say it didnt go well is an understatement Josh Ryan showed potential jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1511 - 09/05/2025 13:47:59 2607821 Link 0 |
There seems to be a strong loughrea cohort posting on here.. Morgan got numerous chances in the league and was very up and down, I'd have him on the 26 but would be marginal ahead of Ryan. Grealish there for experience and Cooney more of a physical presence. He'll get plenty more chances and a 19 year old wing forward has nothing to do with him not being on the 26 Overdahill (Galway) - Posts: 38 - 09/05/2025 14:07:32 2607827 Link 0 |
I disagree. The sooner Rabbitte comes into the mix, the better imo. This Galway team is severely shy on ballwinners, so Rabbitte is needed ASAP. If his time is now, great. You can't start them soon enough imo. Look at that 17yr old winger at Barcelona, and he's over 100 senior appearances already. Morgan has plenty of time, but the old adage 'you can't coach pace' will he an issue he'll have to overcome imo.

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully a nice day for hurling. All joking aside it's hard to call this one, I'd say Galway by 2 but we won't get anything soft here. Safe travels to those coming from the South East. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1677 - 09/05/2025 15:37:04 2607849 Link 1 |
