Where was Joe canning this weekend against Kilkenny? I know we won but we could've done with him on the field getting a few minutes before championship. If we want to bring Liam mccarthy west over the river Liffey this year we need some firepower in the forwards.

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Kinvara is correct about TJ. Showing clear signs of the 'retirement slope' in the last 18 months or so, but very apparent in last year's championship imo. Why wouldn't he too, he's 37 years old. Very few lasting top level intercounty out to 34-35 anymore, let alone 37-38."
Cant see TJ on the starting 15, good impact sub with 10-15 to go but that's about it. Father time catches up with everyone. When you hit 30, the majority lose a step or two, doesn't mean you're finished but it does mean you need to be intelligent about training and recovery, playing time and game strategy. The majority of Limerick team is hovering around 28-29 now and have a lot of miles on the clock, reckon they have about 2 years left to win AIs with this team. Im very interested to see how they manage players, keep them motivated and stay competitive, their backroom team is top notch but they will need to change strategy, they will stand up well to a big physical team, but a team with burning pace could catch them.

So true. John Connolly. PJ Molloy, Noel Lane, and Bernie Forde are others that badly need to be given run outs. By the way, is everything "west of the Liffey" now in Connacht?

John Cooney's Dad would be another one that they should be taking a look at.

As someone wrote on a forum last year, Henry was purported to have told one of his panels 2022-2024 that 'I need players like yere fathers'!!

John Connolly's parents were from Connemara, Galway hurling were lucky they moved. Not too much hurling out there, probably would have been a top notch footballer though!

Replying To WanPintWin:  "He has his moments, but definitely doesn't have the impact he used to have for sure. I don't believe he scored from play in the last 2 All-Ireland semi-finals or the 2023 final.
All to be expected of course, given his age and the amount of wear and tear his body's been through.
Still very effective from dead balls, and a very good option to win a ball too.
He can of course still light it up in any given game, but it's very difficult to do that consistently at that age."
Tj reid hasn't scored from.play on his last 4 ai apperances...wasn't a guaranteed starter for Kilkenny either till his early 20s..I think his excellent free taking obscure people's views on him..great player but greatest I don't think so.

Replying To katser:  "Nice win today for Galway and with all the talk about playing the Loughrea lads...they didn't really have much impact!
I can only think of one Loughrea lad who has made the cut for Galway in the last 60yrs J Coen ...oh and Murphy who got 2 handy All Ireland medals in '87 & '88 without even having to hit a ball!"
Would you call that an impact?
