Replying To Galway9801:  "Yeah I've never been involved in a backroom team but a coach I assume organises drills, keeps the players fresh, helps work on skills, weaknesses they might have etc

A manager is probably a bit more stand offish, picks the team, drops players, gives them a kick up the backside, disciplines them etc decides tactics (although a coach might have input there).

Not sure tho, it's probably slightly different with every team"
And of course does media work, which probably accounts for half the work.

Ha, if it's half the work there must be very little work to be done at all! Certainly in Galway anyway, and I'd say it's not too dissimilar elsewhere, the GAA public are most of the time kept in the dark about team affairs. If the manager is spending half his time with the media I can only guess it must be socialising with them cos 95% of the time the media have very little newsworthy to report in the lead up to games!

Why would you want to know about team affairs though?

There's nothing newsworthy to report because there's nothing interesting to report, all teams are doing variations on the same thing, some better than others of course. The only variables are injuries/suspensions which are usually reported on.

Well I was slightly exaggerating

It was a good match. Galway built leads then lost them then took them back. Tipp is next.

I think we can see the value of having Harry Holmes in this minor side now. Missed nearly all the games so far with an injury but looked deadly yesterday, took the goal nicely and he is a very classy forward. I think he is the outstanding prospect from this bunch going forward into u20. Tough task against a good Tipp side but that forward line with Callanan, Holmes, Roche and Leen will give them trouble.

Any venue and probably a doubleheader with other semi?

Probably Limerick and most likely a D/H yes, on Saturday week

Still think they should put it in a smaller venue. There was absolutely no atmosphere in Thurles yesterday.

GAA should have been looking at small wedding venues for the recent Waterford/Longford 'crowd'.

Maybe one of those small wedding gazebos beside a club pitch somewhere?!

I don't care what county they're from if they get the job done. I liked Anthony Cunningham but they sent him packing.

Dublin absolutely useless against Kilkenny. Galway need to have a long hard look at ourselves to lose to that Dublin team. Donohoe isnt smirking away at the minute.

Ha ha ha. Very true. I picked KK to win but I figured by 3 to 5 points. Sigh.

I turned it off, its dire stuff and no more a final than a Limerick training session.
