Hugely entertaining game. Con O'Callaghan is some talent. Fair play to Kerry for coming back in what was an uncharacteristic collapse from Dublin. lilylanger (Kildare) - Posts: 758 - 23/05/2021 15:31:51 2344523 Link 1 |
I'd agree that Kerry were the better team today.

You'd want to brush up on your rules btw.

What rule in particular? The Kerry non goal? The one where Kerry player was fouled, Kerry player overcarries in advantage play and is called back for a free. Perfect refereeing.

I didn't say Dessie did not know, whether he did or not makes no difference. Dublin county board decided to quickly suspend Dessie and gamble that Croke Park would be happy with that, which they more or less were, game over.

Nonsense, RTE is full of Kerry stooges, even the muppet summarising was positively gushing.

What we learned today will have absolutely nothing to do with or any bearing on the championship. Despite two dire teams struggling with the concept and essence of defending, it was a miserable draw. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4954 - 23/05/2021 15:41:01 2344541 Link 0 |
When you think back at some of the defenders Kerry had over the years they've got no real leader in there at all... all over the shop, but their forward attack can be excellent, could be unstoppable but only if they can produce some defenders to back it up

Interesting fame. Very happy with Kerry midfield upwards but defense still needs alot of work. First half very poor with terrible shooting from both sides. Cream always rises to the top both David Clifford and Con Ó Callaghan show their true worth. Interesting to see Fenton play more forward today. Lucky with the weather. Kerry cant play in a league final as they have championship following week but I think the gaa are wrong on that one. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3934 - 23/05/2021 15:50:56 2344552 Link 0 |
What is the issue with Costello's red last November, at the time no one knew what it was for. Refs report stated red was for abusive language to official, which is a yellow card offence, threatening language to an official is a red, so the appeal was an open and shut case.

I fully agree mayotyroneman. The fact that a player is fouled doesn't give him a license to take unlimited steps. I think Moynihan took eleven! If the ref ignored the original foul he would have had to give a free out for over-carrying. The reaction of Tomas O Flaithearta and others displayed a complete ignorance of the rules.I thought the ref was quite good today, in so far as it's possible to officiate at the way the game is played now.

Find it quite frustrating the blinkered view of some commentators and fans on this kind of thing. It's as clear as day that moynihan over carried the ball and it to brought back and free in awarded. The rte radio presenters were a torture to listen to about it.

I don't think you understand what 'whataboutery' means.

2 games in and already the same old names with the same old tired bitterness towards the Dubs. dubdec99 (Dublin) - Posts: 183 - 23/05/2021 16:02:54 2344563 Link 2 |

That's not why he got off! He got off, according to the Central Hearings Committee, because "there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the infraction". So to put it simply, the evidence wasn't there. It came down to whether the linesman should be believed or not. And he wasn't. Look, it's small beans. .he hardly impacted the championship subsequently. But Dublin footballers have gotten off the rap in the past because they had friends in high places. As I said in my original post, you hold them to account at your peril. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5251 - 23/05/2021 16:14:44 2344573 Link 14 |
Completely agree, there is no advantage if the player with the ball fouls the ball, it would be a free against him. Most people on here clearly do not understand the rules of the game.
