He's not perfect, I wish he was a bit more adventerous but I'm not managing 30 odd players. Consider where we were in Jan 15 to now and he absolutely say yes. He had over 50 players refuse him, including 3 Corofin all ireland winners this year. Hes got us to D1, first victory over Kerry since 65, first semi since he played in 01. Hes my man for the next 3 years at least, unless, and this is what I say to everyone berating him, WHO IS BETTER? Remember this fact, he's not Eamonn Fitzmaurice, he's not out of the championship. We have not lost to yet, and I still personally think we will not lose to Dublin this weekend. If he wins an All Ireland, is he still holding Galway back? Look, he had great experience with Sligo now Galway. He is the man. I think the O Hara comments were a little personal as he wouldn't facilitate him coming back later in the year. What have Sligo done since he left? Haven't got within a penalty of beating Kerry or a point of a Connacht title that is for sure. Also the last time Galway got hockeyed in pearse stadium v the rossies in 17, we a fortnight later beat Donegal by 15. Why the doom and gloom? All the so called experts like the Ó Sé brothers, Ó Cinnéide, are saying because Galway lost a meaningless match, they have no hope of turning it around when this team has a history of doing so. Give Kevin a chance, "rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated."OW. galwaydublin (Galway) - Posts: 226 - 08/08/2018 19:50:06 2130979 Link 1 |
don't talk brown. 1 team is going for 4 all irelands in a row. the other, their first all ireland final appearance since 01. Dublin are great. Galway have alot of potential. Even if galway beat dublin, they'll have a long, long way to go before they can even be mentioned in the same breath as this GREAT dublin team. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 08/08/2018 19:55:10 2130984 Link 3 |
You might be taking his opinion more seriously Saturday evening. Lighten up..your as stiff as the Galway defensive system. BliainanÁir (Laois) - Posts: 598 - 08/08/2018 19:59:04 2130987 Link 0 |
Nothing childish in Jimbodub's response. I find your posts far more childish. BliainanÁir (Laois) - Posts: 598 - 08/08/2018 20:01:34 2130988 Link 0 |
Laois had a great team back in the days, hope ye rule Leinster again

Thank you. Loved the Galway team of 1998-2001. Think your present team could be very good. Would love a slight change of style.

On further reflection, he's got Paddy Tally in, so going forward, if he got Donie Buckley instead, that would be a great step forward. I like Kevin as the figurehead, he is an inspirational presence, and remember is our last all star in 2003. galwaydublin (Galway) - Posts: 226 - 08/08/2018 21:10:10 2131007 Link 0 |
I am hardly worried about your response Mr Laois. As a Galway man i look forward to the All Ireland Semi and an an All Ireland final appearance as well

I think the Dubs could get ambushed by Galway on Saturday! katser2 (Galway) - Posts: 41 - 08/08/2018 21:36:48 2131017 Link 0 |
I don't mind what you have or haven't to look forward to. You think one would be happier with all that going on.

I know. He's an icon in the county. Powerful player in his day.

Look at where Galway were when he took over and where they are now. We've come on massively under him. When he took over plenty didn't want the maroon jersey. What I admire most about him is that he went to every club game he could intermediate too to try and find the players. We hadn't won a connacht title in 8 years. For a province as small as connacht and a team with a history like ours that's hard to believe. When sean amstrong and m.meehan returned I knew the mood in camp was good the desire for the jersey was back. Sadly meehan couldn't overcome his injuries but remember Army's reason for leaving the panel was not because of injury or because of poor form he said he just didn't enjoy it anymore

Liking the bit of confidence from the Galway boys , if it's missplaced or on the button we will know come Saturday , but makes a pleasent change to have an opponent not be beaten before a ball has been kicked , I mentioned it on Dublin page Galway don't have battle scars from a couple of Dublin hidings which is massive, equally nobody can tell you the future but they can tell you the past , Dublin v Donegal the biggest shoe in of all time after Donegals pathetic semi final win , A different Donegal turned up and murdered us , so no I wouldn't be getting complacent on the back of the Monaghan game , I'm confident of winning because of Jim Gavin he will have us primed ready and Galway are going to be hit with the full blue treatment , Salthill was a challenge game in comparison , so be confident we are , be loud we are , and be ready cause we are Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 09/08/2018 09:05:59 2131114 Link 1 |
We are the ones more likely to be ambushed on the way into Croke Park lol! Galway are a dangerous opponent for the Dubs because I'd say they don't know what to expect from Galway.... I hope they start that lad O' Gara

The more i think about this game, the more confident im getting. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 09/08/2018 10:51:07 2131145 Link 3 |
They (Galway) will do one of two things 1. They will sit back en masse, make it extremely difficult for us to break the lines, try keep the game close and see what happens, break at speed and try catch us on the counter. OR 2. They will "cut loose" and have a go. What other game plan could they play ? Its one or the other and Dublin are well used to both by now. Dublin might not know exactly what way they will go, but it wont take us long to figure it out i dont think. We might take a bit of time to get into the game, that wouldnt shock me at all, but once Galway show their hand, we will adapt to suit. Its what we do. For galway to win they will need to play one or both of those game plans to absolute perfection, and pray that Dublin have an absolute stinker. Is it possible ? Anything is possible in sport... Is it likely..... Probably not. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 09/08/2018 10:56:07 2131148 Link 3 |
Agree with everything you say. Thing is, we (galway and dublin fans) will and can express our confidence on fora and it will be considered smug or arrogance, Nothing wrong with saying how you feel, Clondalkin has got a bit of stick for saying this years all ireland is in the bag, wouldnt necessarily agree but i think beating Galway is something we will do relatibely comfortably in the end even if the margain isnt as big as Tyrone last year and my confidence comes purely from the fact this team under this management from what ive seen over the years having gone to every single home and away game in the Jim Gavin era, they never panic, theyre always primed and ready as you say, theyve learned their lessons post donegal 14 and i think they dont do in arrogance and overconfidence as a squad and whether we do as fans is irrelevant. They will give Galway all the possible respect they can. Probably too much at times early on, but weve always figured it out and got over the line and im relaxed and feel we will just do it again. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 09/08/2018 11:02:19 2131152 Link 3 |
I think Galway have a definite chance our biggest problem is wasting good chances. We should have slaughtered kerry but didn't. Walsh kept us in the game v Roscommon in the first have because no one else could convert. We should have won comfortably in kildare. Now the monaghan game the whole team had an implosion. I read Sices interview on his retirement and he said the current galway forward line if everything clicked on the day would put it up to any team. I truly believe what he said. I hope to god this happens Saturday it hasnt happened in any game yet where they were all on form. Going against the dubs the lads can't afford to waste the easy ones or we'll get slaughtered galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 09/08/2018 11:41:04 2131166 Link 0 |
