Galway Vs Dublin

I find it amazing the lack of talk around this game, as the general feeling is the Dubs are in the final. I fancy Galway to be honest, they're in the perfect position after the Monaghan game. The faster we play, the greater the chance of victory as that Dublin back line isn't the tightest and we have the forwards to hurt them. Galway have been the second best team this year from January 30th and one bad performance in a meaningless game don't change that. Their must be serious overconfidence from the Dubs fans and lethargy from the Galway fans as the game isn't sold out with tickets in all parts of the ground. I've seen nothing between the two to suggest fancying Galway on Saturday, in my humble opinion. Galway have some very good players but Dublin have better players, again, in my humble opinion. 2 months ago I would have thought this could be a real good game where Galway gave a realistic prospect of winning. Unfortunately like most breakthrough teams they are showing signs of mental and physical fatigue. The Dubs are only coming into there own. I think that Dublin with take the Galway kick out apart. It's a position Galway need to address in the winter. Galway big fielders won't be a factor on cluxton kickouts as the dubs movement is too good for them. Galway will have to use the full blanket defence they played v Kerry and that will only keep them in the Game for so long. Dublins hard running at a suspect half back line will yield lots of reward. It's hard to figure out what Galway can do to hurt or confuse the dubs. Maybe play comer in the half forward line and leave burke and someone else inside in a bit to get comes running at the goal in support as opposed to running away from goal. This could cause bother for dublin and c o Sullivan . I'd like to see Jonny Heaney take the job on McCarthy they could get some success there. Can't see anything but a Dublin win by 6 or more. I think Galway will be too rigid tactically and ultimately won't have the belief to throw the shackles off and actually go at Dublin. Hopefully we see Costello get the start he deserves and there will also be another couple of interesting selection choices for Gavin to make. O'Gara could well start to put it up to Sean Andy physically and Murchan could well be told to go out and follow Ian Burke wherever he goes, a job that he is well able for. No matter what there are going to be a few very disgruntled lads left on the bench and that for me will be the winning of it for Dublin as we've seen plenty of times over the last few years. You know what you could be on to something he looked in bullish form Vs Roscommon. I dont think Costello will start myself, he cam on when the game is stretchered and if Galway need to come out of the shell and space appears. I think he will go with Paddy and Mannion and stretch the blanket (shawl :)) on the flanks. Likewise Murchen on Burke, he did a hell of a job on Peter Hart in Omagh. Excellent post. This is the real test for Kevin Walsh's Galway. Dublin starting to motor in a full Croke Park in August.. The league final will give Galway hope but in reality will count for very little. I wouldn't read anything into the Monaghan game last weekend wither.. They way it transpired Galway would have been as well off resting more guys than they did. Galway are seriously underrated. They have lost resource all year. Once in league final and last week. They are as good if not better than every team in the country......... except Dublin. Dublin are class and you can't take that away from them. I expect Galway to put it up to them but unless Dublin are off the boil or we get some good luck you would have to expect The Dubs to win by 4 or 5 in the end. But Galway have always been able to beat Mayo and vice-versa, no matter how well one or other of them are going at the time. They beat Roscommon in the Connacht final - but Roscommon were the better team in the first half. They beat Kerry - that doesn't exactly stand up as a major boast now that all's said and done. I was optimistic for Kerry's chances this time last week but as the dust has settled, we can all see that they weren't anything to write home about. And finally, Galway beat Kildare, who gave them plenty of it in Newbridge a couple of weeks ago. Dubs by 4 or 5" Again another thing i think may be a factor, when you look at the league final Galway faded in the last ten minutes for energy and Dublin just pulled away. If we are to look at that premise and Walsh playing close to a full strength team last weekend and the majority of the Dublin team now having three weeks rest that could be a big advantage. With the above in mind Dublin also have a lot more bodies back and playing then they had in the league, there are serious option of the bench who would bite your hand off for a starting jersey. What all that means coming down the straight that may be telling. To counter that some teams do better playing week in week out, Mayo last year and Tyrone and Monaghan have played themselves into the championship this year with little respite week in and week out.
