Fairly comfortable in the end. I predicted a 6+ victory for the dubs but even I didn't see it being much more than that. It's all well and good saying if the penalty went in then it would have been a different game but I still don't think the outcome would have changed. Galway ultimately lacked composure in front of goal and never gave themselves a proper fighting chance. This Dublin team are phenomenal at what they do. The talk of having to re-structure the game/split Dublin or whatever else is thrown out there is lunacy. Success is a cyclical thing and Dublin's cycle will come to an end. The same as all the great teams in every sport. We have a serious squad right now but take a look at 4 of the 6 subs yesterday and their ages. Darren Daly 31, Michael Fitzsimons 30, Paul Flynn 32, Kevin McManamon 31, MDMA 31. All are 30+ and won't be around much longer and then throw in the mix the +30s of the starting team and players who I'd argue are absolutely crucial to our success namely Cluxton and O'Sullivan. Lack of ambition - do you mean similar to the way Kerry set-up against Galway? Galway have come from a low base, were favourites to get relegated from Division 1 this year, so it's definitely progress. Unfortunately, you couldn't say the same for Kerry, they're not even in the top 4 teams in the country The only team capable of taking on the Dubs were Mayo, as they were the only team capable of going toe-to-toe with them over the last 4 years. As a Galway man, I'd be looking to get Donie Buckley into our set-up Bosco98 (Galway) - Posts: 127 - 13/08/2018 10:34:53 2132582 Link 1 |
So, This game went pretty much exactly how i felt it would go. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 13/08/2018 11:59:08 2132646 Link 3 |
my analysis would be that the Galway half back line were nowhere near the level needed to put some pressure on Dublin. centerfield (Mayo) - Posts: 360 - 15/08/2018 01:35:14 2133454 Link 1 |
Today's 2 All Ireland Final's prove that Booing by fans as their opponents are taking free is widespread. It happened in both the Senior and Minor, yes Minor, HURLING Finals today. It is So easy to say only the Dubs on the Hill do it.... Plenty of fans doing it today also including Galway fans at the Minor game... Just saying, that's all.....! Only when they feel the free shouldn't be a free. It's didn't happen in general when Galway or limerick were taking frees.

The morale high ground brigade won't like being told that other counties besides Dublin do it or they didn't hear it or it wasn't booing or some other lame excuse.

Oh so does make it ok to do it then ....????? Ealry in the Minor game the Galway fans were at it... And no, it wasnt a dubious decision to award the free against them... Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 19/08/2018 21:06:16 2134524 Link 5 |
So you're saying it DID happen?

Nope it's not ok it should never happen. It's more prominent from dublin fans (And not because there's more of ye mayo travel in large numbers and you rarely hear it) but no I don't think it was right. You can't say well they do it too so it's all fine. I don't do it at matches even if I don't agree with the free and if you don't do it either then fine. I don't have my Galway goggles on the worst treatment I have ever witnessed is by a small group of Galway "fans" booing our goalie last year. Don't treat be disrespectful towards players. Not that difficult. A child would use the excuse everyone else is doing it galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 19/08/2018 22:40:06 2134568 Link 0 |
The Mayo fans are the worst I have heard at this booing, never heard much from the Dubs far as I can remember, I hate to hear it at matches, also this craic nowadays of trying to put the free taker off, walking/running in his line if sight etc. to have to win like this I think I'd rather lose, I often applaud a great score from an opposing team, Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3183 - 19/08/2018 22:53:13 2134573 Link 0 |
I'm glad you're also acknowledging that not only do Galway fans boo but also Mayo fans too, you may even start to realise that every county teams fans do boo, not right of course, but it does happen outside of the capital as much as people try bury their heads in the sand about it.

"more prominent from dublin fans" yet more prejudice and boo hoo from probably the worst fans in the country for sour grapes. Of course every fans do it, I don't see anything at all wrong with it, if it puts a free taker off he shouldn't be taking them.
