Galway Vs Dublin

I expect it to be much tighter. The league games were tight, full blooded affairs. Only for Dublin probably to have a bit more in the tank in coming down the straight and better more experienced shot selection.

But i really rate Galway, apart from Dublin they have been the form team this year, so its probably the two best counties this year going toe to toe next week.

I think its far from straight forward and Galway with their tails up could do some damage and you could no, not be up for an All Ireland Semi final. A big physical team, well drilled with a few quality players who can damage if allowed.

Things going in Dublin favor are that we tend to have our best performances of the year in a Semi, Galways system we will be well versed in and we have the experience. Galway can be a bit erratic is their point taken and a re prone to a few mad wides. I also think with the system Galway play they will struggle to put up a score winning while Dublin will try and use that system against them. Also i wonder will there be a big traveling Galway support given the hurling etc.

DUblin have one less day to prepare for this then Galway though.

All to play for me, an ambush wouldn't surprise me to be honest and i definitely wouldn't be taking Galway for granted, thankfully this Dublin team never take anyone for granted.

One of the most knowledgeable posters around. Always balanced. Fair play. Of course ye should win this but we have made great strides this year. Most if not all of the naysayers are not Galway football folk with a nice mix from counties who surely would like to see their own counties make the same progress. At the start of the year would taken a semi against the best team in the country to help gain the necessary experience. Our real form is much better than last night but not as good maybe as a few expected. I think there will be a reaction next Sat that would certainly beat any team in the country bar the Dubs.

I would love for this big win margin scenario to unfold and be delighted if it happens but I'm just not sure that it will be that easy.
This is do or die now for both teams so Galway are bound to have a kick in them.
I'd still be hopeful but just don't see this landslide win.

Dont be looking at Galways performance yesterday and think they wont show up next Sat.. They will and will have Ian Burke playing (which they didnt have in the league final) . They didnt bring any intensity yesterday. They know they have nothing to lose and will go for it. Look everyone knows Dublin are massive favourites but i have to laugh at Kerry supporters coming on here saying we will get bet out the gate. At least we are in the last four..

I wouldn't be putting any money on that fellas predictions.

Feels very familiar to our semi final against the dubs last year. This particular Galway team have little experience of this stage and this opposition. I predict this to be another sharp learning curve for them.

This won't be any turkey shoot I'd give Galway more than a fighting chance here. Would love to see them cut loose and show us what those forwards can do, I think that's the only way you'll beat this Dublin team but it's still a monumental ask and you'd need a bit of luck as well. If Galway sit back Dublin will win relatively comfortably

Being honest genius we would as fans like to cut loose even with the high risk of that falling short next Sat The only fear is if you go completely from tried and tested you do so at high risk. Gooch said during the Connacht final that we need to get the balance right something we have to continue to strive towards. Rome was not built in a day methinks so a sharp learning curve we are on.

Yes I understand there is a balance to be struck and what you've been doing so far has served you well. It must be some buzz in Galway for GAA fans at the minute. Enjoy it next weekend anyway

Multiple changes to the Dublin team yesterday, i wouldn't be surprised if the first team was out training and preparing for Galway yesterday afternoon.

Hopefully we will be fresh, two very different approaches by Gavin and Walsh in how they picked their team this weekend. I wonder which will prove the more successful.

Some big selection headaches for Gavin after some of the performances put in yesterday. Costello shot the lights out, Flynn put in a terrific display and brilliant to have Bernard Brogan back.

I stayed behind in the ground for a bit yesterday, i saw McCarthy and Murchan and one or two others out doing a warm down with the physios i wonder are they carrying knocks. It was odd.

up in omagh two weeks ago we saw the same thing after the game when fans where on the pitch, bryan cullen took Eoghan Ogara, mick mcauley, Eric lowndes, paddy andrews, Cormac costello, Paul Flynn, Darren Daly, and Kevin mcmanamon (I think) into a corner to do shuttle runs. All started yesterday.. wouldn be concerned .. Mccarthy got game time yesterday so .. reckon most if not all guys will be fit..

I'd start costello against galway. in place of any of Dean rock, Paul mannion or con.

Yeah it was the exact same yesterday, you could be on to something, if it is the case Murchen is a starter.

Be harsh not to start Cormac on yesterdays showing but Gavin will have a tactical plan for the Galway system.

I think he might stick with Mannion and Paddy for the width and try and stretch the blanket to start with. I think Cormac might come on when the space opens up a bit after the 50 minute mark if we have our noses in front.

Tickets always appear to be sold out for these games and what do you know ,there's gaps in the crowd all over the place.
On the game itself, with no disrespect to Roscommon I wouldn't be looking at how fellas fared too much yesterday as an indication of who will start next weekend. Gavin will go with his tried and tested starters I'd reckon and you will only see Costello and others that got a run yesterday at the later stages.

Wouldn't pay any heed to Galways display against Monaghan. Hard to raise your game when, win or lose, you'll be in the same position. You need 100% concentration for a team like Monaghan and Galways minds had turned to next weekend early on. They will be fully tuned in next Saturday and I fully expect them to give the Dubs a real game. I still think the Dubs will have too much firepower coming off the bench but I'm expecting a very competitive Galway and a good game of football.

Dublin rightfully expected to win easy....... add they would be against every team in the country at the moment.

I think Galway have as good a chance as any to be the team that takes them down. We will need to be seriously efficient in front of goal, get the balance between defence and attack right, get a bit of luck and hope dubs underperform.

We have the talent to do this, I just hope we go for it and if we lose we lose.

Galway will need the Dubs to have a rare off day combined with serious efficiency in front of the posts. That said Galway have a bit of steel about them these days and will not be turned over easily so who knows, would love to see Galway win.

Dublin will have to be at their best.

Galway are capable in every department and have had an excellent season to date.

If Dublin weren't involved Galway would be right up there as favourites to win Sam.

I think you'll see a similar Galway performance to the league final where Galway did not back down and played with an aggressive edge. I think you'll see that again.

Galway will have heard some of the negativity being flung at them and heard the questions being asked about them.. good motivation there

I don't believe that Galway were at full flow the last day. Only scoring 8pts at home? Very poor. How many of their total was from play?

Nah.. something is not right there.

I just can't see them being that below average again.

There's a far better performance on the way and Dublin will be hopefully well aware of that and be 100% game ready.

I hope to see Dublin starting to find peak performance now and I'd like to see a justifiable change in the forward line, Gavin's mantra has been about picking players that are on form.. IMO that's changed a little this season and I think is based on playing Ulster teams in the Super 8. There's been a plan and it's worked to date.

Now I'm hoping to see him return to his previous mantra and release one or two fellas that are absolutely craving for their chance. Time to let them loose Jim and no better time to do it.. this is a pinnacle moment in Dublin GAA history.

4 in a row is on and this is a huge game for Dublin.
