Fitzgerald joins Twomey in new Cork camogie management

Davy Fitzgerald as Wexford manager.

Cork Camogie has confirmed that Davy Fitzgerald will be part of new manager Matthew Twomey's senior management team in 2022.

The appointment, which had been widely reported in recent days, comes just a month after Fitzgerald lost out to Henry Shefflin for the Galway hurling manager's job. It means that the former Clare goalkeeper - who stepped down as Wexford hurling manager in July - will be involved with an inter-county team for a 36th consecutive year.

"Cork camogie is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew Twomey to the position of Cork senior camogie manager for a two-year term," Cork Camogie said in a press release.

"Mr Twomey's management team includes Mr Davy Fitzgerald on the coaching side. Cork camogie would like to wish Matthew and his entire management team every success with their new roles."

Twomey replaces new Cork minor hurling manager Paudie Murray who won four All-Ireland titles (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018) during his reign as Cork camogie boss.
