GAA Director General Tom Ryan has added his voice to the many tributes that have been paid to Limerick hurling legend Eamonn Rea who sadly passed away on Monday.

Ryan offered his and the GAA’s condolences to the family and many friends of the Effin native who was also a fellow member of Faughs Hurling and Camogie Club in Templeogue in Dublin.

“Eamonn was a much loved and hugely influential figure in the club,” the Director General stated.

“A great source of advice and guidance, and a great supporter and inspiration for all of our teams of every age and code.

“The last time I met him was at a junior hurling match three weeks ago and he was in great form.

“It's a big shock for everybody. Our deepest sympathies to his family and many friends.

“Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí dá anam.”
