Yet again, clubs amalgamating is the topic of conversation in many counties and Laois are the latest to see a new club being formed.
The plight of the rural club is once again highlighted with the news that Colt and Shanahoe have decided to join forces.
An Extraordinary General Meeting was held between the clubs and it was unanimous that the amalgamation would proceed.
The move sees the clubs joined from underage right through to the adult grade where both clubs competed in the Senior A championship in 2019.
The new club has not yet had a name put forward, but they are following in the footsteps of the likes of Rathdowney and Errill, Borris-in-Ossory and Kilcotton as well as Park-Ratheniska and Timahoe.
