Trim v Kiltale has turned into a pure knock out game now, if results go as expected , kilmessan and ratoath winning easy, then whoever loses in trim v Kiltale is out of championship am I right? super game in dunganny sunday afternoon, reminisint of the 90s when only two teams qualified and every game in hurling was blood and thunder stuff on a sunday afternoon, only thing that would make it would be more senior A games in club grounds. dunganny is not bad though pitch 6 has more of aa club pitch feel to it. what did kildalkey, kilmessan, boardsmill and athboy do to county board, not to get aany senior A matches? all great places to host huge games. wouldnt it be brillaint for one of them to host semi final, what an atmosphere that would be. new structure is brilliant though. hopefully they dont meddle with it. by my reckoning, kilmessan can only miss out on a final now if the lose to kildalkey and ratoath beat trim that leaves both on 7 points as it was a draw it goes to score diffference? kilmessan have a 14 point lead on ratoath, so ratoath would need to beat trim by say 6 points and kildalkey beat kilmessan by 8 or more, all very low chance of happening, kilmessan will finish the job, id say kildalkey will have very little fight in them for a game like that, they will beat na fianna handy again in relegation play off anyway dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 984 - 31/08/2026 21:17:10 2692220 Link 0 |

I think if Kiltale finish on 7 as well as Ratoath/Trim and Kilmessan, then Kilmessan are through to the final regardless because of the head-to-head rule. I think you're right, the only way they miss out is if it's just them and Ratoath on 7 points and there's a huge points swing (which I doubt will happen). Really interesting last round of games. Obviously, Trim v Ratoath is the pick of the games as a winner takes all game. But even though both Na Fianna and Kildalkey are guaranteed to finish in the bottom two, their results could determine whether a relegation playoff is needed. If Na Fianna lose and Kildalkey get any kind of result, Na Fianna are automatically down. If Na Fianna stay within 2 points of Kildalkey, there will be a relegation playoff. I think Kildalkey can possibly get some sort of result against Kilmessan given that they're all but through. Kiltale will have too much for Na Fianna. I'd guess that in every SHC group game in the past 3-4 years they've had a blood sub or HIA. Incredible luck. Totally unrelated to the above. Senior Teams with 2nd teams should be allowed to bring on players without affecting their eligibility. A rule change is needed here.
