Cork simply will blow Meath away as they are on the ropes now and will kick back, as for confident in beating Fermanagh (we lost to them last year) and Clare (beaten better teams than us in the last year), what is that confidence based on?. We'll do well to avoid relegation." completely agree. We may get zero point out of the last 3 games. Clare and Fermanagh are better teams than us (at the moment). They are more consistent and we are not near that level which is evident. One point is needed and that is going to be a tall ask. Physically Cork will blow us away and we will be wiped at mid field. We cannot win games by not getting parity at mid field. I see some posters going on about promotion?? We're far too bipolar in Meath. That win over Galway changes little and its ridiculous to believe a 'good feeling' is back in Meath so short after the Down debacle. Cork badly need the points, have home advantage and although poor at the moment have more experience getting results when they need them then we do. Travelling down in hope more than expectation. Couldn't agree more losing to Down was a hammer blow to the hopes of getting into of D1. Cork in Cork was always going to be difficult. If you look at this team I think D1 would be a bridge too far anyway. No one should have a cowardly attitude to division one, this type of attitude has crept into Meath psych over last number of years. Division 1 will bring on any team that is a fact, as playing against better teams can only improve you. I guarantee you Andy is not afraid of promotion and hopefully he has knocked that cowardly trait out of the players, some who might have been happy doing just enough to stay in div 2 , knowing excuses would be plenty from those who were also on the yellow side. Being in Div 1 did little for Down and Westmeath and it does not appear to be doing much for Roscommon or Cavan at this moment in time. Sometimes a team can learn from playing in a higher division but on others occasions (if you are not good enough) it just means a bigger beating which does little for confidence. OMG it would be the worst hing ever that could happen to Meath as to move up we should be winning every game comfortably and develop consistency (ala Tyrone)" Have to agree division one football is a big step up and it will bring players on but not yet we need to be very good against division two sides first and be favourites for most games in this division before we go up .look at cavan getting hockeyed every week is not going to do meath anygood don't think we need to worry about going up give team time to settle get organised we dont know what we will get on Sunday kildare and down we were beaten out the gate derry and galway were much better I have seen most games this year and a blind man could tell you midfield is our Achilles heel at the moment not winning our own kickouts puts your defence under pressure we are only starting down the road to where we want to be team was good against galway bit of fighting spirit back in the camp. It's not about a weak mentality or being cowardly, which is a terrible thing to accuse the lads of. You either have the playing and coaching structures or you don't. We don't seem to have either at the elite level.....yet. Some comment s here are just silly we are not good enough for division one yet and it's not down to anything other than ability we have not won a couple of games in a row in years at any level we were slow to move with the times co.board to blame but we are starting to move in the right direction. I will settle for seeing each player giving his best, and team working as a unit. Will want to see us learning from our mistakes,and shortcomings being addressed.. Game by game for now. For this game we simply have to win more around the middle . I expect Andy has planned for this. I expect he has worked to improve delivery to forwards, and forwards always ready to take possesion and responsibility . Most importantly and more difficult to achieve in short term improve success rate from frees. Cork will be difficult ,and will hope to have a physical game to counter some our speedier forwards. I hope we can vary the approach ,and a target man used when play dictates it is the best option at that time . To me Newman back and fit would help here. Flanagan if fit can be used because of his fielding ability. These 2 back can give us that bit more height for this match. Didnt accuse the players. I accused who was in charge of them.
