Talk that attendance figures for both leinster semis combined won't reach 20,000?? Thought Dublin v Meath in portlaoise would hit that alone, Kildare v Louth well supported too, scary. GAA facing huge challenge to turn this attendance slump around macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1164 - 26/04/2025 12:50:39 2604350 Link 0 |
Figures certainly are not encouraging for semi finals in regional venues. I think there are a few reasons at play from the obvious one of lack of provincial interest in last few years. Louth v Kildare should have been in Navan - much more convenient with both teams north/south of the county. Meath v Dublin should have been in Tullamore. Arguably straight run for both sets of supporters. Smaller stadiums also drive a demand for a sellout which would make a punters mind up of attending. A bigger, more human influence is how fast these games get run off after a league. It's almost week on week. Very hard in today's society to commit to county games when they are so condensed in the calendar. I'd love to make every game but simply cannot as life gets in the way. I'm sure I'm not alone in this no matter all the support I'd love to give. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 788 - 26/04/2025 16:03:04 2604377 Link 0 |
