Whats everyones early championship predictions for all grades this year?
Junior B: Moynalty/Carnaross, hard to decide with Cortown as dark horses
Junior: Slane look in top shape, unbeaten so far this year.
Intermediate: Duleek Bellewstown to get over the line.
Senior: Summerhill to retain.

I'm not as up to speed on Junior B so can't comment on that!

I think Slane are strong and should be fav's for Junior

Likewise, I think Duleek have the makings of a Senior team but I'm sure they will face stiff enough opposition. I'll be interested in how Navan O'M go.

As for Senior - I have for a number of years felt that Don/Ash would go well and I see they are leading Div 1 in the league at the moment. But this year, I'm actually going to Dunboyne - who I also think have underperformed in recent years! They are going well in the league (although had a severe loss to Ballinabrackey last time out!!)

I think the contenders for championships would be

Senior: Summerhill, Ratoath, Dunboyne, Don/Ash. - I fancy Ratoath to bounce back and win it.

Inter: Duleek/Btown, Oldcastle, NOM, St. Pats. - Would make NOM slight favs I think.

Junior: Slane, Syddan, St. Vincents, Dunsany. - Syddan are favorites for me if they can get their house in order for championship.

Junior B: I fancy Kilmainhamwood to do it this year.

Junior: its hard to look past Slane. I would have said Syddan but they don't look like there as strong as previous years but are operating at division 2 in the league. Vincents look to be going well.

Intermediate: Pats, Oldcastle and Duleek Bellewstown look a cut above the rest.
NOM were very poor in last years semi final and don't look like they have much coming up this year to add to last year's team.
You'd have to make DB favourites and they will be adding Armstrong to the team.

Senior: Hard to see past another Ratoath Summerhill final. My money would be on Summerhill.

Junior B : Moynalty
Junior : Slane (the nap of the 4 Championships)
Intermediate: Duleek/Bellewstown (Meath Hill dark horse)
Senior: The winner will come from the group of death, Group A, could be any one of the four, which has the champions Summerhill, last years semi finalists Donaghmore/Ashbourne, Ballinabrackey who currently lead Division 1 of the league and the young guns from Dunshaughlin.
The 1st round game between Summerhill & Ballinabrackey looks at the moment to be the tie of the 1st round.

Senior: Whoever comes out of Group A will be in a great position to go deep into the competition, my dark horses are Dunshaughlin, and either Ratoath or Summerhill to join them in the final

Intermediate: Much more interesting, I think Duleek Bellewstown look the most likely to be a senior team, and are probably early favourites having falling short the last couple of years.

Meath Hill are very strong contenders for me too, they had the beating of Duleek last year. Don't fancy the likes of Oldcastle who a few are tipping up - they'll be lucky to get out of that group.

I like the look of Casteltown too, maybe not good enough to win it - but I believe they were one of the most represented clubs on the Meath U20 panel this year with 3 players, 2 of which started so clearly some really good talent there.

Would also be a bit worried about NOM, they aren't producing much underage and I'm not sure how strong that panel is. They could be doomed to Intermediate for a while.

Junior: I think Slane look really good here, but there a few capable teams in there. Syddan looked good last year, Vincents or even Dunderry could go straight back up.

Junior B: I like the idea of seeing Kilmainhamwood start to get their act together and progress back to Junior, so I'll go with them

Are you really saying any one of the four in group can win the championship

Well they can. Clearly he saying whichever 2 comes out of the tough group he thinks both could go on and win it.

Have to agree here
Junior b hard to tell but Moynalty a good bet
Slane surely for junior
Duleek Bellewstown for Intermediate
Summerhill will go far in senior but I wouldn't mind trim or dunshaughlin as outside bet

I would bet every cent I'll ever own that trim won't win it

Junior B: Kilmainhamwood to go up, Stafford is a quality baller and they have brought a couple of more good young lads in to the fold in the last year or so.

Junior: I fancy Syddan here with Dunderry and CnaG their main challengers. Don't get the Slane hype. They are operating in division 5 where as Syddan are playing division 2 week in week out.

Inter: Duleek to get over the line. If Armstrong brings his form that he had with Meath then they should win it with players like Crosby and Clarke in the spine of their team. NOM don't have the marquee players like the used. Pats and Oldcastle to challenge.

Senior: Can't see a division 2 team winning it, they may cause an upset against a top side but winning the whole thing out is unlikely. Fancy Dunboyne on form but Summerhill will be a different animal when Frayne and the two Ryans are back.

Trust me Syddan will not win junior. The league positions will mean little with alot of league games fairly uncompetitive. Slane are a much better team than Syddan or Dunderry for that matter. Ballinlough will be fairly competitive with all players available.
Senior will have the usual contenders with Summerhill, Ratoath and possibly Colmcilles in contention.
St Pats will challenge Duleek/Bellews. Hard to know after that.
Moynalty will certainly fancy themselves for junior b but Wood and maybe Boardsmill if players available could compete.

Junior B- Moynalty really should get over the line they have the players.

Junior A - Dunderry will be too strong

Intermediate - Duleek. especially with armstrong but i still think oldcastle are a very good side

Senior- Summerhill to win it they are going strong i also think dunboyne are going very well

I strongly think the two teams who come out of group C will be very strong, It seems that all teams in group c are equally matched and they will be great games to watch.

Apart from Senior, where most teams are in Div 1 or 2, it's pretty difficult (some might say impossible!) to get a read on where exactly most teams are at. This is mainly due to the fact that a lot of teams are operating in divisions consisting of a mixture of grades or containing 2nd/3rd teams.

Allied to the fact that teams have been missing county players from various age grades/codes, and its probably safest to say that the waters are quite muddy at the moment.

Narrowing things down to 3 teams, and with the above caveats, these would be my main contenders (no big surprises here!)

Senior: Winners: Summerhill Contenders: Ratoath & Dunboyne
Intermediate: Winners: Duleek-Bellewstown Contenders: Meath Hill & Kilbride
Junior: Winners: Slane Contenders: Ballinlough & St. Vincents
Junior B: Winners: Moynalty Contenders: Kilmainhamwood & St. Marys

All will be a lot clearer at the end of July when the leagues are finished up!

Senior: Summerhill to go back to back. Ratoath to challenge them. Hard to pick a dark horse this year but maybe D/Ashbourne can pull it off. I agree with a previous comment saying a div 2 team is very unlikely to win it.

Intermediate: between Duleek and Meath Hill. Duleek will be keen to make it 3rd time lucky, Meath Hill ran them close last year and won the CnB cup this year. St Pats and Oldcastle possible contenders.

Junior A: a lot of people seem convinced Slane are going to walk it..I do fancy them as favourites but write off St Vincent's at your peril. They are a tough team and will be hard beat. Syddan maybe as dark horses with div 2 football helping to prepare them

Junior B: Moynalty realistically should be winning this grade hands down. Kwood are likely their closest challengers, that would be a tasty local derby if they meet in a final.

League form isn't proving to be a good indicator this year. A lot of teams under strength with county players on duty and some injuries of course. As usual, Intermediate has to be the most open of all championships. Looking forward to 1st round matches already!

Fancy Ratoath myself if they can keep their forwards fit

Senior
Summerhill, Dunshaughlin or Dunboyne, although Ratoath due to win one, its been 2 years since they did.

Intermediate
Duleek, Moynalvey or St Pats

Junior
Clann Na Gael, Dunderry or maybe Slane but was at their Final the other night, they were really disappointing, div 5 is not any champ prep for Junior Champ, some of the teams they will be facing were comfortable in div 3

Junior B
Surely Moynalty.... or maybe not

Senior - Summerhill: broke the glass ceiling last year and for that reason would be my pick again this year.
Dark horses: Ballinabrackey

Intermediate - Navan O'Mahoneys: operated out of division 1 which probably kept them out of a lot of people's minds. They were unlucky against Rathkenny last year but think they'll do it this year.
Dark Horses: St Michaels

Junior - Clann na nGael: didn't turn up in last years final and were opened up by the youth of Kilbride. When they're fully motoring they're extremely hard to contain at this level.
Dark Horses: Dunderry

Junior B - Moynalty: I think this is the most obvious answer of the 4 grades. Brought slane down a peg or two in the league final and should push on for championship if they can keep their best 15 on the pitch, it should be fairly straightforward.
Dark Horses: Cortown

Senior Championship:
Summerhill look the best of the bunch once again this year and will be hoping to go back to back. I've liked Dunshaughlin last year and still fancy them to come close this year once they have Grey and Kinsella up to full fitness they'll be tough to stop with classy players all over the field. Dunboyne to also come close.

Winners: Summerhill
2nd pick: Dunshaughlin
Dark Horses: Ballinabracky
Relegated: Rathkenny

Intermediate:
This championship is wide open and there for anyone to take. I think it's between Moynalvey, St Pats and Duleek. Although Duleek haven't got going yet you can never write them off with the players they have and are yet to play their best 15. Kilbride will have ambitions but are met with their first proper test at this level with St Michael's in the first game which will show us where they stand, Potentially a team that could do very well but haven't been challenged.

Winners: Moynalvey
2nd: Duleek
Dark Horses: Kilbride/St Michael's
Relegated: Nobber

Junior Championship:
Another tough one to call but I think Clann na Gael should have just enough to get over the line this time with a full fit team, Slane are a good side too bit looked poor in the league final. Dunderry will have big ambitions to get back up to where they feel they should be. Ballinlough will want to make a push also but just lacking slightly still in with a big shout I think

Winners: Clann na Gael
2nd: Ballinlough
Dark Horses: Slane
Relegated: Moylagh

Junior B:
Moynalty are sureky going to get the job done here? won't be really easy but with a full team I don't see them losing this.

Winners: Moynalty
2nd: Kilmainhamwood
