For factual context, Meath County Board asked both clubs if they would be prepared to change the time/location to enable the game to be streamed on Clubber….both agreed! GenderNeutral (Meath) - Posts: 115 - 18/09/2024 11:14:25 2570529 Link 0 |
It was moved because both teams didn't want to play under lights and its nothing got to do with clubber. They have streamed games from Ashbourne before. Also a silly move by Meath Co Board if you ask me. They have reduced there revenue significantly by having a senior double header. This game alone would have attracted a big crowd.

Big bad Ratoath controlling the Meath County Board! Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 18/09/2024 11:48:21 2570544 Link 0 |
Maybe before you made your point about being factual, you should have checked with the main club officers in Ratoath. Come back to me with the actual facts when you do. I am not arguing the point about whether it was a better decision to change to Pairc Tailteann or whether it is better or worse for either team or clubber, I am just stating the facts that did happen after Ashbourne was named as the venue. madmeath (Meath) - Posts: 84 - 18/09/2024 14:42:23 2570583 Link 0 |
No you're not. Both clubs wanted it moved, both agreed to it being moved and then the game was moved. No doubt Ratoath would rather the game in Navan on a Saturday rather than a night game in Ashbourne.......as did Dunshaughlin. Either way, I can tell you as a FACT, than none of the players will care about the waffle being spouted on here. We have the 2 best teams in the Championship, playing on the best pitch in the county, as it should always have been in the first place. ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 582 - 18/09/2024 15:10:10 2570591 Link 0 |
The road works in the village have moved to the top of the town and this week it has been hard to get in and out of the town - I wasn't talking about the club itself As for Ratoath requesting a change that is not the case. I confirmed with one of my lads who hurls with Ratoth - apparently both teams agreed too and requested the change Relationships between the two clubs appear to be strong with Ratoath 2nd team being managed by a Dunshaughlin man Royalblufill (Meath) - Posts: 515 - 18/09/2024 18:43:01 2570621 Link 0 |
Are they the best teams in the championship? How you figure that out. Dunshaughlin were outplayed by Ashbourne in rd1 and had a great win v S'hill but the hill butchered a number of goal chances. Ratoath beaten by Skryne and under serious pressure v Trim who by all accounts were as good as Ratoath but missing their form forward. Would Summerhill not be as good a team as anyone ? Dunboyne ?

Just my opinion really and others may not agree, but the best teams win when not playing well like Dunshaughlin did against Ashbourne. Summerhill butcherd goal chances yes, but they couldn't beat them with an extra man and strong breeze for 20mins of the game. Ratoath were well beaten by Skryne yes but one bad game hardly means a bad team. They were never under pressure against Trim (I was at the game) they won it playing in 2nd gear and were also missing a number of players and/or only welcoming some back from long lay offs. I jus think you have the two teams here with the best set of forwards (Mitchell, Costello, Kinsella, Duke v McMahon, Wallace x2, Rogers, O Reilly, Rooney), two cracking midfields (Gray and O Connor against Flynn and McGowan) and strong enough defensively (yes they can both be got at but so can any team). Summerhill are definitely up there in this group as the 3rd best (again IMO) and after that I think Dunboyne, Ashbourne, St Colmcilles and possibly Simonstown make up the next group. ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 582 - 19/09/2024 13:20:00 2570742 Link 0 |

I cant speak to him training with Simonstown, but I did see the man doing his shop in Aldi Navan on the 18th, speculate what you would like from that.

Congratulations to Dunshaughlin. They weren't going to let a repeat of last year happen. Couldn't understand how we were bookies favourites for today. Hope they go on and win it. Goals win games and we've failed to score one in three of our four games which is always going to make things difficult. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 21/09/2024 19:10:11 2571195 Link 1 |
Looking at today match I'd say colm o rourke might have been right about a few things Harnan6 (Meath) - Posts: 35 - 21/09/2024 19:41:06 2571200 Link 2 |
Have to say I disagree tbh. Only got to see the second game, Ratoath took on some poor shots in the first half. But there was some very good individual pieces of quality from players. It was a much better game than the same stage last year

Dunshaughlin were very good. Well organized and managed. Ratoath were. Without strategy and moved Wallace from a central defensive role disrupting their own defense. They also forgot to plan a sweeper. This lead to goals spoiling their chances but they were not wanting for good performances. Expect the new Meath manager not to dismiss senior clubs like Colm and show up the mistakes more Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 553 - 21/09/2024 22:45:43 2571219 Link 0 |
only saw second game myself. dunshaughlin targeted high ball in long 4 to 5 times in 1st half. worked twice. 2nd half ratoath moved player out of full back area to centre back. was bet for both balls that led to 2 goals. looked unfit and was replaced with about 10 minutes to go. Attended the 2 games yesterday. Skryne by bar the better team in the first game. Andrew Beakey and James Conlon the only stand out players for the Cilles, I'd imagine both will be on the county panel under Robbie Brennan. Harry Rooney immense for Skryne around the middle. Yeah Rooney very good, some super catches.Campion also good, seems to he a good partnership.I thought Skyrne looked fit and moved the ball well but gave up a fair few goal chances which Cilles butchered.Thought the Cilles lacked a bit of height around the middle and will be interesting to see how Rooney fairs against someone more physical but that's for another day.Conlon made a big difference when he came on if fully fit could have been alot closer of a game.In the other game thought Dunboyne looked much fresher and fitter than Summerhill. The lad getting sent off was silly and could've cost them but Summerhill neverctook advantage of it and lost 10 mins because of a black card.I thought Lenhian gave Ryan a torrid time out in front of him all the time and his free taking was fairly good and might see him in with Meath next year and get more of a chance?Midfield was a good battle Jones and Flanagan had some good moments.Dunboyne and Dunshaughlin has the makings of a great game. . I completely agree on Skyrne. Very impressed with them in Navan on Sunday. They Played a lovely brand of football. My first time seeing them this year.It was hard to work out who was playing in what position there was that much interchanging. Cilles had no answer to it. I didn't recognise who's coaching them?, but they are a different team this year that's for sure.

Yep you can see the impact Mick O'Dowd has had since coming back in, they have a winnable semi and would not be surprised to see them go all the way. I read somewhere Conor Scully from Na Fianna in Dublin was brought by O'Dowd as a coach, and he's fairly well known in Dublin football. So things looking good for them at the minute.
