Meath Player Of The Year?

Replying To thelutch:  "Very hard to single out anyone really as it was almost a three part season.

League Campaign
Championship
T.C

I probably too would go with Ronan Jones, showed a bit of fight against the Dubs and was solid in T.C.

Would not be handing out Player of the year awards to young lads just yet.

I need to see consistency next year now from these lads who have come in and I believe they will step up.

Still not sold on JM & AL inside, they will struggle against the better organised teams and that was even evident last week.

Would love to see Shane W , Jack C and Joey return to panel next year to ignite more challenges for places.

Nothing against the two lads, they give their best but just lacking that bit of extra class.

Just my opinion."
Who is Jack C?

Actually thought it was about just Meath senior players in which case my Ronan jones one stands. However if it includes club then I have to agree with my old friend and school pal on this one. James Conlon.

If I just take the Tailteann Cup games, I thought there were standouts in individual games. The first Down match in Parnell Park to me was a step-up from the opening two games and in that game, Jones took it by the neck in the last 10/15, very good. Great workrate. I would say that throughout the cup, Flynn and Grey have grown immeasurably as players and Flynn hit a peak in the final. Coffey has been very solid, as has O'Neill and Ryan, and Costello has again shown signs of becoming a top quality player, he isnt there yet though. The lads up front (Morris/Lynch) are very inconsistent but have had some good days and will improve again. I think Cillian O'Sullivan deserves a mention as a guy who has clearly been coached since COR came on as an impact sub to control games and keep tempo, a big, big change on his previous role, and he has done that job well. Harnan has been quietly good.

For me, Keogan, the leader of this team and at last got some championship reward for many years of hard work.

He was just suggesting that James should come into the panel to increase the competition for places up front. Nothing mentioned regarding James being a candidate for player of the year!

If it includes club performance then it is too early to say. The real club championship starts at the knock out stages. Strategies could involve resting key players for the games that count.

I completely agree James conlon is an outstanding player but it's getting a bit ahead of yourself if you think he is a player of the year candidate after 2 games in the championship both of which his team were really poor and he didn't do particularly well
A list of the he championships top scorers was published today on HS and he was not in the top 12
Scores are his main job

On that score (excuse the pun!) - Brian McMahon leading scorer so far! Brian is a super player who gave a lot to Meath over the years! Ratoath seem to benefitting from his step away from the county set up!

On player of the year - if looking at both club and county contributions this year a few guys stand out to me - Jack Flynn and Matt Costello in particular! Odds on them meeting one another in a Keegan Final??

Dunshaughlin have zero chance of making a county final
A number of clubs ahead of them at the moment
