Replying To Royalblufill: "Senior Championship:
Curraha v Dunshaughlin - I think Dunshaughlin will win this - their form looks good and they have a couple of lads coming back from injury, particularly Luke Mitchell. Conor Grey is a big loss and The 'ha are never east to beat but think Dunshaughlin will just about have enough!
DonAsh v Na Fianna - I have gone with DonAsh everytime so far! Going to go with them again - which will mean 3 teams end up on 2 points! Presume it is score difference then which will favour DonAsh if they win!
Dunboyne v Trim - I think Dunboyne will just about edge this and therefore go through.
S'Town v Seneschalstown - I think Simonstown will top the group with a narrow win here!
Skyrne v Moynalvey - Moynalvey have more at stake here and I expect them to win this. Skyrne looked poor against Ratoath!
Ratoath v Colmcilles - Ratoath to maintain 100% record although think this will be close enough!
S'Hill v Kells - kells look like a team in decline while Summerhill look like real contenders as they have been for teh past few years. I think Summehill will win this handy enough!
Tones v 'The Bracks' - This to me is the tie of the round and Trim is where to be on Sunday at 4!! A real winner takes all feel to this one and hard to call! But I think Tones carry a little more experience about them and I expect they will nick this by a couple of points! I won't be betting the house on it though!!" Dunshauglin to win Don/Ash to win Dundoyne to win Somonstown to win Skyrne v moynalvey draw Ratoath to win Summerhill to win Tones to win

Incredible drama to end Group A. In Navan, a poor game ends with Don/Ash grabbing a last minute goal - then concede a point.
At the same time, Dunshaughlin get a last second winner against Curraha to send Don/Ash through on points scored.

Replying To thelutch: "Only 4 out of 4 for me also. Was a weekend of some strange scorelines and results but round 2 is always do or die for teams.
Fair play to Moynalvey and Curraha, huge results for both clubs and leaves them in with a chance of making quarters.
The relegation could be very interesting also, two giants of Meath Football down through the years already in it with Kells and Skyrne.
NOW THIS IS WHERE I THINK THE RELEGATION SETUP IS A TERRIBLE BAD IDEA BECAUSE I WILL EXPLAIN IT NOW.
Lets take group C
Skyrne have nothing to play for now as they can only achieve 2 points. What would I do if I was managing Skyrne ? Id be preparing for the quarter final of relegation which means I would be holding back any lads that are carrying knocks and certainly holding back my Top player or 2. This gives Moynalvey a massive advantage now in race for 2nd because Ratoath could dish out a 10 point win to secure top spot and Moynalvey win by 3 will put them through on score difference.
NOW IF IT WAS ONLY ONE TEAM INTO RELEGATION YOU END UP WITH A FIERCE BATTLE BETWEEN SKYRNE AND MOYNALVEY TO TO AVOID FINISHING BOTTOM !!!
So group A
Still all to play for which is great. Correct me if I'm wrong but did don/Ash qualify before with just 2 points on score difference ? lightening strike twice ? If am wrong I apologise.
Group B
Dead rubber With Simonstown and Senchalstown now BUT if it was only bottom team into relegation, Senchalstown could still finish 3rd and avoid it.
Group C
As explained above.
Group D
One dead Rubber between The Hill and Kells , no hope of Kells making third.
Conclusion
Three dead rubbers but there could be only one if relegation was different.
Also , A team with 3 or 4 points should not be going into relegation with teams who have none.
LASTLY
Its time to seed the championship and change relegation.
4 semi finalists in one pot A 4 beaten quarter finalists in pot B 4 teams who finish third in pot C 3 Teams who stayed up and intermediate winner into pot D
Just my opinion." Replying to my own post, this is exactly why we need a seeded draw brought in.
Team qualifying for quarter finals with 2 points is not right in my opinion. Loose two games and still qualify.
We could have teams losing just one game sent to relegation.
Something needs to be done as soon as possible.
Groups need to be seeded and not have 3 of the 4 best teams in the same group.

Dunboyne manage to concede a goal on the last play with their whole team defending the goals, unbelievable how they let dowling have so much space and an easy shot into the net, if an under 12s team conceded that you'd be astonished. They probably got what they deserved they were very poor apart from cathal lacey and Jack kinlough who really played well in the 2nd half.

Some surprises in Junior B this weekend. Slane annihilate Boardsmill and Carnaross pip Moynalty. Slane advance. If Moynalty beat boardsmill they'll advance too, a boardsmill win leaves 3 teams on 4 points and a bit of a mess. Kilmainhamwood advance with a game to spare and the winner of drumconrath and Cortown next round will advance too.

Hard luck to bracks today. What a win for cilles though. 33/1 might not have been such a outrageous bet after all

Replying To CastleBravo: "How would a seeded draw stop teams going through on two points?" Missing my point
Of course you could still qualify on 2 points however it would be much more unlikely
My argument is with an open draw is that you could have the 4 semi finalists in the same group the following year and 4 teams in relegation in another.
Needs to more balanced to get the best teams into knockouts.
So lets go on last year
Pot A - Wolfe tones , Trim, Summerhill , Ratoath
Pot B - Skyrne, Moynalvey , Kells , Na fianna
Pot C - Cilles, Dunshauglin, Donaghmore Ash, Bracks
Pot D - Dunboyne, Simonstown, Curraha , Senchalstown
Even take the first team in each group there , then the second, third and fourth
You would have
Group A - Tones, Skyrne, Cilles, Dunboyne Group B - Trim, Dunshaughlin, Moynalvey, Simonstown Group C - Summerhill, Kells ,Donaghmore Ash ,Curraha Group D - Ratoath ,Na Fianna , Bracks , Senchalstown
Looking at them 4 groups I don't believe 2 points would get you out of any of the groups.

Replying To Crinigan: "It was same for Blackhall when they were decent. Most Meath GAA people, including journalists are not from south Meath - so Kildare border teams get little interest and there is not much knowledge of the best players etc. Na Fianna in my opinion have 3rd best team in Meath (not that you'd think it on here!) and a decent motivator and competent manager in Cormac Davy." The third best team in Meath finishing third in a very weak group of 4 when none of the actual top 3 current teams in Meath were in the group.
