Meath Vs Louth

You either want to play for Meath or you don't. The coaches involved are all very successful in their own right.

Replying To seadog54:  "Nothing negative about manager putting his stamp on the team, he has laid out his plans and requirement to panel and if one man is not happy then its time for him to go, why should exceptions be made for one player. COR comes across as a very reasonable and knowlegeable man and I have no doubt he acted in best interests of group
Time to move on."
Well, if reports are true that he called Conor out in front of the other players then that was not right.

Conor is one of a very few players in the Meath setup who has very good experience at a high level of performance and is still at his peak - we have already lost Menton and how long more will we have Keoghan for?

Of course I don't know the full story but COR should really have been pulling out the stops to keep a player of Conor's calibre and he would have been one of the first on the teamsheet to add vital experience.

Set a programme for Conor and work with him and let him know that he's a key member of the setup. If he cannot meet the requirements or walks away after that then fair enough but do it behind closed doors.

Anyway, perhaps Colm did do that but if he didn't then I don't think that he managed the situation as well as he could have done.

I find this whole thing really strange. McGill has nothing to prove and has been exceptional for Meath along with Keoghan and Menton. Can't believe he isn't on starting 15, nevermind the panel. If he wasn't fit it probably wasn't for lack of effort and if it was an attitude issue then it's up to COR to sort it out and motivate him - it's not as if he's problematic player, he's captained club and county ffs. We don't have near enough talent available to discard players of his calibre.

We have often disagreed on things on here. But I'm in total agreement with you on this. It is all way too strange for me.
No one really knows what really went on. But as you say we are in no position to discard a player of his quality. And unfortunately barring a intervention I don't think he will return next year either. Crazy stuff

Team looks a lot more balanced and better than last week. Flynn inclusion is huge. Walsh and particularly Costello been back helps enormously.
Still worries about a very inexperienced back line but we have no other options

Flood has looked very much at home, it has been a massive step up in class from junior club to intercounty football, its a throwback to the SB days when it was all about ability and not the club you played for. Hopefully he can settle in and become a mainstay of team. Great to see the three lads back for tomorrow, all good ball winners and Flynn an option for long kickouts, however like Flood he is new to this level and needs to be given time.

Just watching Kerry v Armagh. And something I forgot about our game last week. What the hell were we doing bringing up Harry to take a 45 and then instruct him to kick it back. Can anyone tell what that was all about?

Tomorrow is no doubt a huge game and it is increasingly looking like Dublin are not moving so well and are possibly there for the taking if we can get ourselves in order. We have to be all in tomorrow and on top of our game against a decent Louth team. Win tomorrow and I am confident we can push on.

Couldn't figure that out last week, only thing it does is allow us to retain possession which in the end we gave it away.

I don't think he is instructed to kick it backwards. Based on everything we have seen from O Rourke he would rather a player had a go at a 45 rather than kick it back. Usually those kind of moves are done off the cuff by players depending what is on.

If we win today then we are still in a great position despite last weeks humbling experience, let's get behind the players who are there and park all the Mcgill stuff and stop listening to ridiculous rumours about how it all went down, best of luck to colm and the lads meath by 4 points hon the royals.

Best of luck to Colm , Donal & all the team and management.
A good bounce back win is what is needed here today. These two matches are very winnable and then Dublin (who are misfiring more than a ford cortina on a cold day) in navan could really set promotion in progress. Let's be honest that would be the real progress needed this year.

Best of luck to the lads today.

Be a dogfight and hopefully we can come out on the right side of it.

Would take a one point win this minute.

I'd take any kind of win today because Louth are going to be set up ULTRA defensive, a la Micky Harte and I feel that they will be very hard to breakdown. Patience will be needed and hit and hope kicks could cost us. Each kick inside will have to retained.

Ouch. A bit of a reality check perhaps. Yes, decision for the red was questionable, but another game with a long patch where we couldn't put up a score.

Promotion pretty much out of reach now with Dublin and Derry both winning

Congratulations to louth. Better team on the day won. We can have no complaints. Colm hopefully will have learned from today.
And Ollie my old friend I didn't get to call into fitzimmons as I was running later than I had hoped. But I hope you enjoyed that one.

Promotion definitely gone. I'd be more worried about relegation at this stage. The two tipped for relegation we drew with last year we have lost to one of them at home. So squeaky bum time now. I expect louth to stay up. So it's one of us or Kildare to join Limerick.

Bad result for us! After a great start to the league - a loss against Louth at home would not have been expected! Some key games coming up - and we m need another win to avoid relegation - Limerick don't look like much but not taking things for granted!! Can't see us beating Dublin but maybe we can take Kildare - they seem to be in a state at the moment!

The long ball game is great but it need to be mixed in with other options - otherwise teams know what they have to deal with!

Last thing - McGill is a leader and I think someone should try get him back - if he doesn't want to that's on him!

Jesus that was a terrible standard of football by both teams we really should have beaten them even with a less man just shows where we are at now

Discipline, discipline, discipline.. One of the most important things in any sport, and when you leave yourself a man short so early on, it's always going to be an up hill struggle.

And then to get back into it and go 5 clear mid way through the second half, and then just capitulate is very very disappointing. Just a dismal performance which puts promotion well and truly out of sight. Very very poor again.
