Nah that the thread title alright BR, but obviously from what we've seen and what we've available, I'm just interested to read what Royals would choose as the Starting XV for the Cork game and why!

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, down playing lads availability to wait and see how they are. Walsh played half a challenge game against Wicklow there on Sunday Morning and McGill was there but apparently has had that bug that went around during xmas so wasn't played for that reason. Both seem injury free anyway so it's more down to managers selection. McGill was playing right up until November and I'm sure there will be in house games and possibly another challenge next weekend so he won't be lacking much match sharpness really.

On the game itself its hard to know really as there was close to a full new 15 in the second half, but at times we look brilliant, a mix of fast ball through the hands and early kicking inside, a few nice marks made and some lovely team scores.
Now the flip side is that on a number of occasions we tried to force a pass rather than recycle the ball and kicked in high 50/50 ball when it clearly wasn't on so there is still a long way to go in the mastering of the game plan meath are trying to employ by the looks of things

Shows I didn't read it properly:). I'm just looking at cork game myself. We really can't look any further than that. I really do think it's one of those games than can define a season. As for championship I really don't see anything else other than making to all ire proper and seeing what happens. Leinster I would say Dublin will stroll , and if I'm been honest I think they'll be collecting Sam too.

It's not bad RD, it wasn't a rigid question regardless of the title. I'm an exile so I devour the opinions on the panel from those who are back at home.

Is Eamon Wallace gone off the panel this year also, or is he just taking some time out? Surprised there has been no comment on it so far. His form for Ratoath at half back last year suggested he could have done a very good job for Meath there.

Disagree. He did very well there for Ratoath no argument but nowhere the level to play in the half back line at Division 2 inter county. Defensively would struggle positionally would struggle. A very good servant to the Meath senior team but IMO he's one of a few stalwarts that should be cut loose so we can look to the future .

I agree about your points regarding Eamonn defensively but would have liked to see him tried at wing back, if you could pair him up against a half forward who doesn't like to defend or track he could be worth 2-3 points but the down side of that is he could cost you the same if he goes forward and leaves his man without cover.

He was probably the best center back in the championship last year but overall he's not a natural defender which says something about our current issue if Eamonn is the best center back we got playing senior club football. Conlon, Harnan, O Neill and Rafferty all play at 6 with their clubs but none of them fill me with confidence at center back for Meath. Keoghan is probably the best option we have at the moment.

Yep no doubt he would offer something going forward but my fear would be targeted by teams who would know that defending is not his strong point. Shame he wasn't involved in the O'Byrne cup where he could have played 6 .
