That was brutal, looked like we where miles off the pace as stated already ,our pacey players where stuck to the ground today. Its horrible to admit but it looked like they are simply terrified of the Dubs none of the backs put a hand in blocked, shouldered or got into faces to put any pressure on them. These lads train hard all year round and do put in a huge effort so seeing this makes it even harder to take. Change of management is needed but we wont beat Dublin with this bunch of players with any manager. SheridansTry (Meath) - Posts: 180 - 15/05/2022 18:45:56 2417324 Link 2 |
Ah well ....as expected .... Dublin in 2nd gear.......Meath in slow reverse for last 3 years ....You reap what hou sow ! I believe NO Meath supporter can support a continuation of this shambles. A culture of fear instilled in the team ,and through incompetence by CB allowed continue when they could not even complete a review properly. The shambles has now reached its conclusion .Only possible answer Fresh blood in all key positions .No point flogging a dead horse.! nobull456 (Meath) - Posts: 1266 - 15/05/2022 18:59:27 2417331 Link 17 |
Our most consistent performer in a lackluster year Jason Scully, where was he today and why was he sacrificed? winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 594 - 15/05/2022 19:21:20 2417354 Link 1 |

Found that very bizzare alright. Must have gotten an injury beforehand

None of this happened. Absolutely no excuses. This isn't the same all conquering Dubs that won 6 in a row and yet we played with all the fear we thought we shed last year. I don't want to linch players or management because I do understand they put in enormous effort. But that was completely unacceptable

Subscribed to GAA Go so watched a load of games, both Meath and not Meath e.g. Armagh, Derry, Dublin's League downfall and have to wonder, just what is going on?! I mean, even we'd been on the other side of the draw, on today's showing I think we'd have either lost or got to the Final and lost. A straightforward free slightly to the left of goals. Ideal position for a right footed kicker of inter county quality. We bring our our left footed goalie up to take it in preference to our right footed forwards and he kicks it wide to the right with the obvious left footed tail. stillaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 15/05/2022 20:10:35 2417386 Link 2 |
Don't want to be in a queue to kick a team when it's down but we've had the apologists get one extra year after another for the last two years or so and this is where we are ABK67 (Meath) - Posts: 62 - 15/05/2022 20:19:28 2417388 Link 3 |
Hogan Stand heading for the summary of the game is very odd. It was not a 13 man Meath team that lost this game. The sending offs were at the end of the game. Dublin hammered a 15 man Meath team. stillaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 15/05/2022 20:20:08 2417390 Link 1 |
Obviously it does. Let's be honest for a few posters on this site. Todays result was brilliant.

Not really surprised with the result, expected a good beating but did not expect what I witnessed. thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 1073 - 15/05/2022 21:02:19 2417413 Link 2 |
Well I don't think anyone here has said Andy will be around next year. He had a chance if we won today and won Leinster. Let's be clear we were probably no better than last year. Dublin were sublime. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 15/05/2022 21:34:06 2417431 Link 0 |

He was injured and wasn't fit to start from what I was told. If the game was in the melting pot he probably could have been brought on but when the game was gone probably no point bringing him on and risking further injury with qualifiers coming

Did Andy consult with his selectors during the game at all? stillaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 16/05/2022 10:04:18 2417522 Link 1 |
This was coming all league. The team just aren't engaged with Andy's style 6 years on, it's a slog to play and a tough watch. They look completely lost. We aren't near Dublin and no one thought that but the players aren't as poor as yesterday either, time for a change and hopefully so dramatic new ideas as otherwise I fear we will lose the next crop of youngsters. No one wants to play quasi rugby with no structured way to play with the ball. The hard running game is impossible to do year in year out, our time in the super 8s featured this but since then the players are just tuning out. Can't blame them entirely. He was 100% fit from what I've been told. Injury had nothing to do with him being dropped from reports coming from north meath

Agreed........I would say its coming for the last 2 years at least maybe even 3. However, Andy did his best ,Thanks to him anyway ,thats all anyone could do. His STYLE at this level is not acceptable. Any managers job is to get the best out of whats availabe. He failed here, because of his style of management. I absolutely agree hold off judgement on the players untill we see them under new management. Thanks due to the players for hanging on in the circumstances. Hopefully the new manager will instill a culture where every player will WANT to improve their skills themselves. No doubt players know there is a gap here they have to fill.. The selection of the right manager is the critical task for the CB. Then we could be back in business, and hopefully see a team with confidence, rather than crippling fear .I also believe that most of the basic errors will disapear in an atmoshere of encouragement and confidence building. I completely agree our players are better than they are showing for the last 2 years.
