Where's he based out of curiosity? Surely not doing a 6 hour round trip from Ballina 3 times a week to train a club team, albeit a good one! The_Ripper (Meath) - Posts: 183 - 05/01/2022 11:20:29 2393644 Link 0 |
He's living in Dublin from what I've heard so that takes out the 6 hour round trip. I wonder what he will be bringing with him in regards to S&C coach, nutritionist, physio. UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 409 - 05/01/2022 12:56:17 2393661 Link 1 |
I'm told he is bringing a highly experienced and highly respected inter county coach with him as part of the team I can only imagine they have had an extensive interview process with many candidates and he must have impressed to be there Suppersub (Dublin) - Posts: 5 - 05/01/2022 13:20:20 2393670 Link 0 |

The euphoria around the Ratoath managerial position, by people outside Ratoath, continues! GenderNeutral (Meath) - Posts: 115 - 06/01/2022 21:05:16 2393870 Link 0 |
Apparently he phoned a few auld fellas for a chat during lockdown last year, he has rarely spoken about this so not many are aware.

Not really about the Ratoath managerial position as such but more intrigue about David Brady because he is such a high profile GAA personality and one that has been hugely controversial down the years. If he had taken any club job i imagine the interest in it or him would be exactly the same.

Richie Keiley for Dunshaughlin looks a good choice, interesting to see who he has in with him. A man well respected in the club but long enough out of playing Senior ball to have no loyalties to lads on the team. I can see him bring them straight back up to Senior. They definitely have the talent to win it and compete in Senior as well but just don't seem to have the fight and team cohesion which I would say he will bring to the fold. ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 582 - 07/01/2022 12:22:25 2393924 Link 0 |
Colm O'Rourke stays on with Simonstown but entire backroom team gone, Both Kennys, Mills, Padraig Farrell with Meath Minors. interesting to see what happens there longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 330 - 07/01/2022 12:53:01 2393929 Link 0 |
Very good appointment indeed. I would be very surprised if they don't win the Intermediate straight away. It won't be easy at all but I just can't see them losing if they are on their game. Going down to Intermediate might turn out to be a blessing in disguise as they do undoubtedly have a lot of very good young players coming through, backed up by the U20's winning this year, but a year at Intermediate could allow them to gain confidence and build momentum like they did in 1997 and then come back up to Senior a stronger outfit than the one that went down. Will one or two of the older players like Caoimhín King and Ray Maloney return to play this year?

Delighted to see Richie at the helm. A strong clubman with massive experience. Just the profile to blend the emerging youth with some of the older players . Agree it would be great if Caoimhin and a few others might hang on for a while to help the process along. Nice to see the club able to recruit from within. We haven't prospered much from outside managers in recent years. aghref (Meath) - Posts: 150 - 07/01/2022 13:20:14 2393935 Link 1 |
I actually thought you did ok under Moyles, but the internal trouble at the time (or perceived trouble from the outside looking in) just made things to unsteady to kick on, he got to quarter finals and had them looking like a solid senior team anyway. The last two years have been poor to be fair, not sure what benefit Caoimhin or Maloney bring at this stage, both late 30's and at most might play a bit part role this year at the lower level but are well past senior football by now!! I think yee are best off with what yas have and trying to mold the current crop into a solid unit, as mentioned, the talent is there, its just a matter of building up the work rate now to match it

I would like to see Dunshaughlin come straight back up but my feeling from seeing them regularly over the past 2 years is that they are in for a rude awakening at Intermediate level and will find it much tougher than they expect it to be. I don't think will win it this year. Possibly semi final stages but if they get a group of death with any of the likes of Oldcastle Ratheknny Duleek Walterstown St Michael's I would not be surprised to see them struggle to get out of the group. assuming typo here for poor ahref...as far as i am aware...and do have to admit its from quite a disatnce...but there has been nothing but "outisiders" in charge of Dunshaughlin since the mid to late 90s...from Colm O Rourke, to Eamonn Barry...right up till 2020 .,...so lets assume typo here and should have read "we have only had success with outside managers"

They were well beaten by Garrycastle in first round of Leinster - a late goal made for a flattering scoreline! That said- I think the squad were still celebrating their first ever Keegan!!

Dunshaughlin made correct choice by appointing club legend, but not before they appointed A sub committee to recommend spending an inordinate amount of money to coach a team in the intermediate championship. Where does this stop? Absolute madness. longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 330 - 09/01/2022 22:01:37 2394316 Link 0 |
Talk in Ratoath is that things had become stale, no fun involved. The will get to the last 4 no matter what. Brady to bring a bit of fun to the role and the group
