Kiltale are favourites against Ratoath according to PP. We've regressed a good bit since last year and are missing a number of players so I doubt it if there's any pressure on us. Indeed, I'd be pleasantly surprised if Kiltale don't beat us. In the other game, I think Kildalkey will win. They somehow left last year's semi final behind them last year and this is a chance for redemption. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 11/11/2021 11:26:55 2389097 Link 13 |
I predict that with such a ridiculous championship hurling be extinct by 2045 Brownepat (Meath) - Posts: 532 - 11/11/2021 18:31:02 2389154 Link 0 |
Kiltale were short a few in last game also , would you be playing the cute ratoath man and playing down their chances? If you have regressed but yet only lost one game , by a point at that , in the group stage , then it cant be by much. Should be interesting to see both line ups and exactly who is injured. hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 425 - 12/11/2021 12:10:00 2389190 Link 0 |
Is Paddy Power being the cute Ratoath man? Kiltale are favourites with them (albeit slight favourites) so not sure where you're getting the idea that Kiltale are underdogs. Last year we beat both pre-tournament favourites to top the group and hammered Na Fianna in the semi final. This year, we lost to Trim in the 2020 final, lost to Kildalkey, should probably have lost to both Na Fianna and Kiltale. So, yes, we have definitely regressed this year in my view. Are lads going to come on here now and look for a change to the championship format after that performance from ratoath. Very quick to draw the boot into killyon and dunboyne after the last round. Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 418 - 13/11/2021 17:23:37 2389297 Link 1 |
Completely different scenarios . The top 5 are miles ahead of the rest without question, today was just kiltale showing up and ratoath being off their game, play the same game tomorrow the result probably wouldn't have been the same as today. Play the quarters again and the hammerings wouldn't have changed that's the difference tuppy23 (Meath) - Posts: 154 - 13/11/2021 18:47:40 2389310 Link 0 |
You make zero sense pal. Ratoath were bet out the gate today. Killyon were bet by less with 14 men for half of the game. My point here isn't who is the worst loser my point is everyone is mad to change the championship over a few results. In order to improve meath hurling maybe the answer isn't trying to demote or demoralised weaker clubs maybe promoting hurling is areas like north and north east meath where there is nearly zero underage hurling.

But how does the current championship actually benefit the weaker clubs? If the 6 weaker teams only play eachother in the championship how do you think that will make them suddenly good enough to compete with the top 6? Dunboyne won 5/5 games this year and the quarter final was an absolute waste of time for both sides. People need to swallow there pride on this debate and realise playing a smaller championship with a senior b will benefit the progression of teams better than the current format. As was said before you wont get the one sided hammerings you got beforehand simply because they're not playing the weaker sides anymore until the quarter final tuppy23 (Meath) - Posts: 154 - 13/11/2021 21:23:37 2389332 Link 0 |
Following the weekends results we're now down to a 3 team SHC for 2022 with Kiltale, Kildalkey and Trim. Ratoath clearly not up to it. Trim lucky to make the cut. Group B should be interesting. begining (UK) - Posts: 313 - 15/11/2021 10:41:04 2389489 Link 0 |
Looking at the results, would it seem the extra game in the quarter finals gives the team a bit of an advantage? Kiltale, Boardsmill and Drumree all went through in either 3rd or 4th place and got to play an extra competitive championship game. Will we see a case of more teams throwing a game to maybe finish in a quarter final spot rather than having a 4 week break to play a semi final. U might hold judgement until after the final.

Not sure if there is a bit of tongue in cheek here. Ratoath could easily be current SHC champions had the original final fixture against Trim last year taken place. It didn't and recent weeks have been difficult for them but they have good minors coming through and haven't gone away. Trim are better than they displayed yesterday and will be there or thereabouts for the next number of years but the best two teams this year are in the final. Hard call, I can see Kiltale being favorites but that will suit Kildalkey. stillaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 15/11/2021 11:15:34 2389505 Link 0 |
Ratoath were outworked all over the field. Kiltale were very good on Saturday. Hard to see Kildalkey laying a glove on them if they turn up like that again but that was what everyone thought in 2019 looking forward to the final 20e very expensive ticket 2020Vision (Meath) - Posts: 29 - 15/11/2021 11:30:01 2389511 Link 0 |
its very 50-50, id say the betting will be very close, maybe kiltale slight favourites , they will be very hungry for revenge after 2019 dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 790 - 15/11/2021 21:10:59 2389584 Link 0 |
