Really thought we'd at least be competitive for the first half.

Jesus Christ Andy McEntee, if yis did nothing else all year except practice kickouts and freetaking we'd be far less embarrassing against Dublin. This is tragic stuff here.

4 years I've been saying it. No kickout, no free takers.

This is like an u10 match where the goalkeeper can't kick it or a tennis match where one player has to serve it underhand like a child.

The fault for that lies with the manager. I'm absolutely furious looking at this.

This is awful. Missed 2 goal chances, then as confidence seeped away we dropped at least 4 short. I am sorry but we either get new management or give up. Westmeath and Laois were far better I hate to admit. A football wilderness I am afraid. Depressing.
Come on prove me wrong in the second half.

Replying To Evernal:  "Best wishes to Andy Bryan Donal and the rest of the squad. Huge huge game today. Getting more nervous by the hour. I just hope we go all guns blazing.

Let the ball in good and high on a wet night anything can happen. Interesting to note in the Independent Nigel Crawford speaking about 2010 4 out of 5 of the goals were from kick passes of 70 metres. That's what we need to see again. Combine that with the hand passing rectangles out of the defence the Dubs wont know what hit them.

This isnt Jim Gavins Dublin so they arent the same. Just need the referee not to bow to the Dubs like every referee before him. Penalise the over carry of the ball and the constant flagrant disregard of the 4 steps and watch for the off the ball stuff.

Interesting to have it on a Saturday night I'll have the fire lit snack box delivered and myself and the daughter be happy out!

Good idea with the #keepthelightson campaign JohnJoeRoyal. Going to visit neighbours farm up the road and see can I rustle up some green and yellow fertiliser bags to cover each headlight!

Hon the Royal! Be close game but Meath by 5!"
Upon reflection, this was a cat post. Dublin are as good as ever.

Game over lads. Ball burst.

I said a couple of years ago on this forum that we should put a halt to intercounty for a few years and just make our club championship into something really special. Literally don't put a team out like KK do.

I was slaughtered for it but I still stand by it. It's the only answer to the disgusting disgrace that the GAA created. Meath CC owe a duty of care to their players, shouldn't be humiliated like that in front of the whole country.

Let's just focus on our own county club game and make it something special. Leave the Dubs to play themselves, their fans will prob still celebrate.

I think at least 75% of posters here have been giving out about the kickouts for years now. Also frees, nothing since Newman.
Tonight Wallace was the only plus....best man in County Final as well.
I normally don't campaign to get rid of management but McEntee has to go absolutely no real improvement. Two steps forward but three or four backwards. Basic skills have not been worked on, very little running off the shoulder to give support. Cillian O'Sullivan got away with a double hop the last game....did he learn....did he f.....did management address this...doubt it. This is elementary stuff obviously not worked on. Time to go I'm afraid.

Bad day at the office lads, not at the races at all unfortunately and Dublin were on fire.

But look, lets try to keep the all the negative, no-hoper comments to a mininum, it might blow off some steam but it won't do us much good.

If we want to get back to challenging Dublin then we have to get back to Division 1 and stay there, but that's for another day. For now we have to just have to go back to the drawing board and prepare for what will be a very competitive Division 2 next year.

Fully agree. Jaysus even when we did push up Cluxton was able to kick it too a player 60/70 yards away. Our long kickouts were not even making the 45m line and on top of that they were floaty kicks that gave the opposition a chance to get to the ball. Jones probably couldn't complain about the black card but I couldn't understand Small not getting one just before half-time for deliberately tripping a Meath player.

Im massively deflated after that lads. I really dont know where the panel goes from here; The management, The whole thing. All of the good work has been seriously, seriously dented after that. A 21 point loss in the Leinster final, and lads, it should have been worse. They were toying with us. It really was a kickabout for them. What does this say about the Leinster championship? What does this say about us? I wasnt one to get swooped up into falsities about winning the game but I genuinely thought Meath would give them a match tonight. I wouldve been thrilled with a loss of 10 points provided we scored 1-15 or 2-12 or so... but this is a huge step backward for our side. Im embarrassed and feeling for the lads. They aren't to blame for this. Our shortcomings as a football team (which we've all discussed at length here for years) were embarrassingly on show tonight and people's feet need to be held to the fire over these issues.
I for one dont see any future for the Leinster championship.
On a positive note the commemmoration was brilliant, and the Dublin team laying the wreath was class.

Waynol, a slight correction to your protagonist, Nigel Crawford said "What's noticeable about the origin the five goals.....is that the assist for four of them came from a kicked pass of 40 meters or more." No mention of 70 yard kick and hope....wet day nonsense. The tone of the article was that there was so much space available to Meath on the counter attack that it was possible to footpass 40 meters or more. This actually was the case as I was at the game and couldn't believe the space available to us that day. It was the last time it happened as Pat Gilroy had a rethink of strategy. As for tonight.....actually worse than last year, we could blame the weather last year, new players this year made very little difference to the overall result.

Ridiculous post. Only issue I have with management is goalkeeper situation. Think they are doing great job progressing team. Dubs are just way superior. Regarding Cillian double hop and addressing it, pressure from the opposition causes these mistakes,he is a county footballer not a under 12 player, give it a rest. Sometimes you just have to admit that a team is just a level above. Take out the top 3 or 4 teams and we can compete with the rest, Andy had brought us back up to that level.

Deflated no doubt. But we move on. We have improved and will continue to do so. That was a harsh lesson. Dean puck in goal from now on. No other option. Keep with Morris for the frees. Wallace is also now a certain starter for me for league. Andy has one more year, and anyone saying to change him now is going way over board. We have done this before with knee jerk reactions. We can't allow it to happen again

What level has Andy brought us to? That is worst Leinster Final performance from memory.

I was expecting Dublin to be superior and win today but I really didn't believe that things could have been worse than the result last year.

I refuse to drive a boot in on the lads tonight. Not one of those players went out representing Meath to ship a score like that and no one of could have felt worse than the lads on the pitch tonight.

What needs to be looked at on reflection of this season is - has the achievments over the last 18 months really changed us?

Are we any closer to beating a Division 1 side?
Are we any closer to Dublin?

The answer is no.

However, we are developing a squad of young players and we have showed character this year and certainly have the foundations of becoming a top 8 side when you see the ever growing gap.

The worst outcome of all of this is the total failure of management to sort the goalkeeper situation out, to sort the kickout plan out, and, to sort the free taker situation out.

These issues have been identified by all and sundry for at least 3 seasons and have not been addressed. It did not cost us the game tonight but I made our task impossible and inconceivable.

Next year will be the critical year for this squad. Have they got what it takes to get out of Division 2 and win the division. Can they get back to a Leinster final and attempt to remedy these displays against Dublin.

Save the drama of removing the Management team and knocking individuals. All supporters are hurting.

I thought the Dublin team laying the wreath was pure corporate crap personally. Will be worth few bob in sponsorship to the Dublin players no doubt.

Howdy neighbours, commiserations. I genuinely thought ye had improved and that we may have 'stalled' a little this year.

I keep hearing "you need goals to beat Dublin" but more importantly, you need to be able to kick points between the 45 and the 'D'.

Mayo can do it (against us anyway:D) and Kerry can do it, and let's be honest, we've rode our luck at times against both!

So the management in Meath needs to be questioned here, ye need to be cuter, I mean, do you think Dublin weren't expecting yous to go for goals early on? The dog in the street knew that. Ye have ballers, so the Meath way is to keep plugging.

Meath were more than competitive against Dublin in the League. A lot different to championship, but the game was in Parnell Park.
Why are the Leinster Council persisting with the games in Croker for Leinster. No crowds, so not like they are relying on income
