Moyles was a good half back but he was never good as a full back. Before the match we all knew this was our biggest weak link and so it proved to be.

When you look back to that time, and specifically the time EOB was manager, there was a lot of talent playing for Meath. Serious talent, also throw in a few remaining players from the late 90s and early 00s. The issue then was that there was a problem making all the pieces fit together, hence why there could be emphatic victories such as Tyrone 07, Mayo 09, Dublin 10, and the comprehensive beating of Louth in 11, but also times when they massively let themselves down like the losing of a big lead over Wexford in 08, and Louth a year earlier in 2010. For whatever number of reasons, things just never came together enough times. People say that in that era Meath were a physically strong but slow team, and didn't have great organisation in the face of the height of blanket defenses etc. The way a lot of that generation just quietly dissapeared from the county team is a shame. They may not have won All-Ireland's, or even another Leinster or two, but they under-achieved. You often hear similar things said about the Meath of the 70s.
