McEntee should look at his failings before putting the blame on the ref what an embarrassment . mmc (Meath) - Posts: 281 - 09/02/2020 22:44:07 2266626 Link 5 |

Management seem to have decided there is only one way to play and for whatever reason are too stubborn to admit it is not working and try something different. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2196 - 09/02/2020 23:39:50 2266647 Link 15 |
The decisions made on the sideline are nearly as bad as some of the decisions on the pitch by players. madmeath (Meath) - Posts: 84 - 09/02/2020 23:52:35 2266648 Link 3 |
All willing to blame players and manager who had a difficult week personally. Why is it wrong to be truthful and point out that the officials were to blame?. Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 553 - 10/02/2020 00:08:24 2266650 Link 3 |
Neither of the Wallace's started so I think he was trying to mix it up! I heard Andy being interviewed yesterday- hugely frustrated / partly with the ref but I am guessing with the players too! The amount of wides and then a stupid turnover at the end! He can't kick the ball for them!! Every week there is a call for someone who didn't play - then they get on, do little and we move on to someone else! Royalblufill (Meath) - Posts: 515 - 10/02/2020 07:18:30 2266664 Link 2 |
The ball was moved forward because Keogan threw/hit the ball into the stand to prevent Mayo have taking a quick line ball. it was a stupid thing to do on his part and was rightly moved forward.

That was because a Meath player punched the ball over the fence into the terrace after the ball went out for a Mayo sideline ball. Absolutely stupid thing to do which basically gifted Mayo their equalizer.

In this day and age when there are so many kickable frees awarded (due to amount of breaking lines you have to do againt mass defences), you have to have a high percentage free taker even if hes a bit a of a passenger in the team otherwise. Whether that's Cathal Finnegan or Dardis or Luke Mitchell, whoever - there should be one on the field at all times. Jesus when you think of all the kickable frees that have been squandered in the past few years. Its just outrageous. Crinigan (Meath) - Posts: 1352 - 10/02/2020 09:00:42 2266680 Link 17 |
who did it?

The player named as sub goalie cannot come on outfield. Barry Dardis couldn't come on as a forward yesterday.

It was Donal Keogan who did it. Dont know why he didnt just leave it off but maybe he thought no one was behind him and needed time for backs to get into postition.

With the wind behind us in the first half I don't know why we didn't start launching it in. Mayo have always been suspect under a high ball. Easiest way to play football. Ball travels faster than man. Just drive the thing in LoyalRoyal66 (Meath) - Posts: 85 - 10/02/2020 10:08:22 2266703 Link 0 |

Looking at this factually I thought defensively we were very good overall, some serious work put in and McGill was fantastic, midfield was much improved from the last two games but as had been the case both this year and last it's up front where we have our problems, we are not scoring enough simple as that, we are creating plenty of chances and producing some good build up play but out conversion rate is shocking, the two goals yesterday showed the movement and incisiveness we can create but we need far more composure and patience in front of goal and take proper shot selection, our wastefulness cost us in Omagh and it cost us yesterday and the frustration in McEntee was clear to be seen afterwards with this and the referee and by the way he is quite right to be annoyed as Meath certainly should have been granted one more play. As previously said, defence and midfield were decent, I thought Conlon was suited to #6 and would like to see him stay there. Ronan Ryan also played well. Devine and Walsh brought a different approach in the forwards, I can only assume Walsh was injured (anyone know?) to be taken off, otherwise that was a huge mistake by management. It's not true. Dardis of course was free to come on outfield. Same way any player on the bench or on the field for that matter can go in Goals.
