Is this for definite? Can't see why he would transfer back to Ashbourne from Na Fianna.

Yeah it's true. One of the lads on the wearemeath podcast said the family live in Ashbourne, he still knocks about with the Ashbourne lads & is going out with one of the meath women's side. Suppose he didn't break into the Dublin setup either so maybe he just wants to get back playing with his mates. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 03/12/2019 09:40:53 2252867 Link 0 |
Seems to finding it difficult to settle on who his mates are, maybe thats why there was a bus to a Dublin match from that club, any chance Dean Rock will join him

Maybe McEntee should get on the phone - if its okay to target the Dublin lads who moved to Dunboyne, why not Deegan? Might help us score more than 3 from play in our next Leinster final?

Jesus wept. Have you ever seen him play? Will be lucky to get on Ashbourne team even with his father managing them.

Didn't get near their first team. Ashbourne should tell him to do one.

I have seen him play - If we are happy to turn our noses up on a lad who has played 2 years at Dublin u21 level & has been on Dublin league panels (Lets not mention the best team of all time) for Meath O'Byrne cup / county friendlies / in-house matches to see his ability.... Hey, maybe we are the most delusional fan-base in the country? Roscommon should have turned away Conor Cox too cause that was a complete failure. torres710 (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 03/12/2019 22:32:53 2253071 Link 0 |
Any truth in Davy Byrne leaving Ratoath? Anmhi364 (Meath) - Posts: 65 - 18/12/2019 20:43:34 2255536 Link 0 |
Just seen the tweet on We are Meath. Apparently a big fallout between the club and management team...huge loss.

My comments as follows Ratoath won their first Senior under Davy. He was part of the Jim Gavin era management team (possibly the best management team in any sport in Ireland), there was a lot more in the squad and Davy was the right man to bring the whole thing forward. The present Ratoath squad is the best the club ever had, its a massive shame Davy is no longer in the job to take them forward. The squad team played a open brand of attacking football which was delight to watch, its a shame Davy was not let push the whole squad (club) to the next level. I don't think this fall out would happen in any other club in the country. The squad are young, if players are coached/mentored by the best they have a chance of becoming excellent coaches themselves in the future, which would lead to an even better well rounded club This issue will have repercussions for the club for years. iceland123 (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 20/12/2019 14:41:47 2255696 Link 1 |
Was it a fallout or is he going to work on Dessie Farrell's back room team?

I think people on here should get aquatinted with the whole facts in Ratoath before they start throwing stones head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 513 - 20/12/2019 20:41:25 2255720 Link 0 |
I certainly not throwing stones. However I did comment on the results of the issue within the club. I'm not sure what you mean and don't want to know. Seems unfortunate that the PLAYERS are denied the services of an excellent manager. Let me remind you of the results 2019--winners, playing exuberant mouth watering football. 2018--QF. 2017--QF. Surely some issue/ differences of opinion should be ironed out for the benefit of the PLAYERS. After all its they who train hard, put their bodies on the line and represent the club with their excellent football and good sportsmanship. People at the county final were commenting on the PLAYERS ball skills, pace and good attitude. To emphasise my point in case you missed it. Its always about the PLAYERS. iceland123 (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 21/12/2019 08:51:05 2255747 Link 1 |
Maybe the best way forward would be for everybody (players, managers, club reps etc etc) to meet up and try and resolve this issue. Seems a shame to undo the best year the club ever had. There has to be common ground across all parties. They surely have the best interest of football in the club at heart. Maybe a high official in the club (chairperson for example) could set up a meeting and invite all parties. iceland123 (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 22/12/2019 15:53:29 2255891 Link 0 |
This is the view i have consistently heard from not just the club but the ratoath community generally who feel the executive made an extremely bad decision which could destroy the best team they ever had. The facts speak for themselves .And indeed people from further afield are amazed. Davy Byrne was highly regarded all over Dublin and wherever he went. Anyone who came across him knows the ratoath decision was idiotic Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 553 - 22/12/2019 22:13:31 2255924 Link 3 |
Well you know what they say opinions are like!!! If it was a cut and dry case of they just got rid of him then yes, it would be stupid. However it quite clearly isn't the case after the year the club has had. I'm not going into details here as it isn't the place to discuss club matters. People who don't know the facts or details and are just reading the news will say it's idiotic, anyone who does know the facts will tell you this was completely avoidable but ultimately the club had no alternative in the end but to part ways. As for the team being destroyed.....not a chance, the talent in Ratoath is immense and the mentality is very good aswell, this team will continue to flourish and challenge for county and hopefully provincial honours for years to come!! ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 582 - 23/12/2019 12:08:42 2255962 Link 0 |
Again this is complete rubbish from people who don't know what they are talking about
head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 513 - 23/12/2019 12:11:45 2255963 Link 1 |
The club had the alternative to leave well enough alone. No idea why they did this to their own players who did so much for them

What part of my statement was not correct?
