Meath club St Ultan’s are holding the third All Ireland Gaelic football High Kick (Cic Árd) and Long Kick (Cic Fáda) on Monday 3rd August 2026 at Sean Newman Park.

With a massive cash prize at stake for the High Kick, each competitor must try and kick a ball over a specially designed replica of a standard GAA goal post, that is raised on a tele-handler exceeding a height of 100 foot. Each competitor gets three chances to get the ball over the bar each time it is raised to a new a height. The cross bar will be raised until the highest kick is achieved. This may sound easy but it can catch out the best kickers. The event is open to women and men with a prize of €1,000.00 for the highest kicker in both categories.

The Long Kick is also open to both men and women with a cash price of €1,000. They have to try and kick a ball the longest distance over the cross bar at St Ultan’s Pitch. Competitors start from 20ft out and try to score a point by kicking the ball from their hands or the ground. Each competitor will have three chances to get the ball over the bar to progress to the next distance. The competition is open to all clubs and we would like to extend an invite you to see if one of your club members can claim the title of Irelands Cic Árd or Cic Fáda champion. 

The current Men’s High Kick title holder is former Meath player Joe Sheridan. Joe won the title in 2024 and retained the title in 2025 with a record kick of 80ft (24.4m) The ladies High Kick was won in 2024 by Joe’s sister, Mary Sheridan, also a former Meath County player. 2025 was won by local Rachel Casserly who is also a current Meath County player.

Our Long Kick Men’s winner in 2025 was St Ultan’s clubman and Meath Minor Conn Brennan who kicked the ball an incredible 55m over the bar at just 16-years of age. St Ultan’s club member Trisha Marley won the Ladies event with a 38m kick and for good measure won the Penalty Taking competition too!

The winner of this years High Kick & Long Kick each receive a cash prize of €1,000 and the Tara Steel & Engineering perpetual trophy.

There will also be an Under 16 High King & Penalty Taking competition on the day. Plus, lots more fun activities and amazing prizes for all the family throughout the day.
