Cumann na mBunscol: First camogie title for Whitecross

Whitecross N.S. 6-3 St. Mary's N.S., Ashbourne 4-0

Whitecross N.S. claimed their first Meath Cumann na mBunscol camogie title with this nine-point victory over St. Mary's N.S., Ashbourne in the final game of Day 1 at Trim.

The winners raced into a 3-0 to 0-0 lead thanks to goals from Zoe Kelly, Leah Walsh and Emily Delaney. Millie Greene kept St. Mary's in the contest with a goal as Whitecross took a 3-1 to 1-0 advantage into the half-time break.

Whitecross were well on the road to victory early in the second half with further goals from Aisling Brennan, Kelly and Tillie Donnelly extending their lead. The Ashbourne girls finished strongly, with goals from Abbie Lambe, Freya Davy and Peggy Tsemzang giving the scoreboard a more respectable complexion, but there was no denying Whitecross their first county title.

After the game, John Byrne presented the Shield to Whitecross captain Ciara Barron.
